I don't know for sure if this is what exactly happened in Hayley Orrantia's case, but I'm still surprised that this wasn't a bigger deal in the news (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2506651/The-Goldbergs-star-Hayley-Orrantia-crashes-car-checking-phone-leaves-man-ICU-brain-injury.html).

- was 20 y.o. at the time of the accident
- crashed into someone else because she was texting & driving
- the victim was in critical condition
- this case disappeared from the blogs fast as hell, like you didn’t hear anything about it after a while

Hayley probably settled with the family. And if this happened now the family, would get more money as The Goldbergs was just starting back then.
