The son of Star Trek's original Lieutenant Uhura says his mother Nichelle Nichols has dementia and is being taken advantage of by 'certain individuals'.
Kyle Johnson filed paperwork in court on Friday stating Ms Nichols, 85, has dementia, which is causing short term memory loss and 'impacting her executive functioning', TMZ reported.
The 66-year-old, who is her only child, said his mother's condition is making her 'susceptible to undue influence.'
'Certain individuals have unduly exerted themselves into Ms. Nichols' life to her detriment,' he claimed in the court documents.

Her son, Kyle Johnson, 66, filed papers to court asking for four trustees to take over decisions about her finances and health
While Ms Nichols is reportedly deteriorating quickly, she has not stopped working.
She has released one movie this year, White Orchid, and will perform in at least two others this year.
In an interview with CNN just last week, the acclaimed actress said she was still passionate about her work - especially her fans.
'The people first,' she said. 'The people that came to see you, the people that literally put you there.'
'It's like a destination that you know is gonna happen and you just kinda lean back and enjoy it.
'You know, step on in baby. I like what I do, I love what I do.'
