A few schedule tweaks coming on May 28th. I'm not sure if this is the official Summer of Me schedule or not, as there aren't many changes.

NEW SHOWS: Charlie's Angels, The Jeffersons

RETURNING SHOWS: Gilligan's Island, The Odd Couple

LEAVING SHOWS: Hawaii Five-O

SCHEDULE PDF: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UNrxTPGwVaqrZPWw1ZkQG3ilBcQBAgEx

I'm only listing the changes here. If a time slot is not listed, it is not changing from the current schedule.

WEEKDAYS:
5PM: Charlie's Angels replaces The Wild, Wild West
6PM: Mama's Family replaces Hawaii Five-O
6:30PM: The Jeffersons replaces Hawaii Five-O

SATURDAYS:
No changes

SUNDAYS:

2:30PM: Diff'rent Strokes replaces The Facts of Life (the 2PM episode of FOL is still intact)
3PM: Gilligan's Island replaces Diff'rent Strokes
3:30PM: Gilligan's Island replaces Diff'rent Strokes
5PM/5:30PM: The Jeffersons replaces The Love Boat (the 6PM Love Boat episode is still intact)
7PM/7:30PM: The Odd Couple replaces Touched By an Angel (the 10PM Touched By an Angel is still intact.)

Also of note, My Three Sons continues on with season 11 starting May 30th, which I don't think they've ever shown before.

Glad to see The Jeffersons but why oh why do they have to keep that lame MASH and Hogan’s Heroes hogging the same spot so long? I wish The Jeffersons could have taken one of the Hogan spots. At least the later airing of Touched by an Angel is staying which I am glad for. Now that they have the Jeffersons, hopefully it will turn up on a Decades binge sometime later this year.

Interesting Mama's Family is going back where it originally was. Maybe they noticed H5O doesn't do as well as MF did. Good choice there, also with The Jeffersons. I'm glad to see another hour of sitcoms.

You're right, My Three Sons season 11 (and 12, as well) haven't been shown for years (at least 15) (other than a few misc. showings on Decades).

Yes it’s great about My Three Sons. I just wish it was on in the evening instead of the early morning. Hopefully Decades will do a binge of it sometime this summer too like they did the last two summers.

Im so happy that my three sons is staying on, im enjoying seeing all the seasons, its the only show I watch on metv currently. I see leave it to beaver is starting over with season 1 on tuesday so I may start taping that and if gilligan's island and jeffersons start with the first season I may tape those. I started watching mama family but fell off of it when betty white and rue mclanhan and even the original kids left, I didnt like the later seasons, maybe its only me but maybe I'll try again some day.

May 19-20: Hawaii Five-O
May 26-27: The Streets of San Francisco
June 2-3: Here Come the Brides
June 9-10: The White Shadow
June 16-17: Daniel Boone
June 23-24: Bridget Loves Bernie/Square Pegs

We had it on a local LeSea channel for a year, last year. They replaced it and Hart to Hart with sitcoms. They now have an afternoon of sitcoms...Jeannie, Who's the Boss?, Steve Harvey Show, and Mad About You. They also show Just Shoot Me at 11 pm, which is pretty adult for a religious station.

I know. I was really hoping for something good. Square Pegs might be worth checking out but absolutely nothing else there interests me. So far, there have been five Decades binge marathons in 2018 that I have watched some of. Get Smart in January, Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life in February, Our Miss Brooks and Laverne and Shirley in March. Nothing else they have shown interest me. I really hope they will do Petticoat Junction, My Three Sons, Taxi, WKRP, and The Jeffersons sometime later this year.

Antenna TV had a Partridge Family Mother's Day marathon last Sunday in honor of Shirley Jones, which I thought was a nice touch. Decades or Me could have countered that with shows like The Donna Reed Show, The Brady Bunch, or Leave It To Beaver, but unwisely chose not to.

MeTV is going downhill. At least they don’t crunch credits like Antenna, but they leave the same programs in the same slots for too long and now they’ve gotten lazy with their website and their promos. Summer of Me used to be a lot more fun, now there’s not much to it.

I'm thankful that I have most of my favorite shows on DVD and seldom need to watch the retro channels now. The only channel that I still pay attention to is Antenna TV, and that's only because they air The Joey Bishop Show and there are a few episodes that I'm waiting to be aired so I can record them.

MeTV has been going downhill for a while. Maybe they are doing away with their Summer Of Me gimmick, I don't know. I haven't watched MeTV in a long time. They used to telecast in fullscreen, but now they telecast in that garbage widescreen style, with the shrunken picture and black bars at the bottom and top. I hate widescreen.

GetTV used to telecast in fullscreen, but now they've gone to the widescreen garbage too. RTV (RetroTV) telecasts in widescreen too. I guess that's the trend these days but I hate it. Glad I have my DVD's to watch that are in fullscreen format.

Antenna TV is still in nice, normal standard definition. MeTV locally is full screen, but that full screen where everything is squeezed-looking from the sides. On a smaller cable box I have called a DTA, it looks different, where the aspect ratio is all off, and the picture looks too zoomed in.

I think all that would be resolved if the local channel put it in widescreen. MeTV should have stuck with SD, like Antenna TV.

Analog TV telecasting was a lot better. In 2009 the digital conversion was forced on to the public and it's a pile of garbage.

Widescreen is bad, but the screen with the black bars on the sides is even worse. That is how we get Cozi TV. Since I have a standard definition TV (even if I had an HD one, I wouldn't pay the cable company extra for it), I'd just like to see a regular TV picture, like Antenna TV.

Strangely, Antenna TV for me isn't full-screen. It's letterboxed (the small square "postage stamp"), but Me-TV is full screen albeit cropped a bit. Cozi TV has a very crappy signal where I am, but I don't regret not having it.

I used to receive MeTV that way, a square picture in the center of the screen with black bars on all four sides. That was ridiculous. There must have been some complaints because now MeTV is transmitted in widescreen with the black bars at the top and bottom, which is almost as bad and not much of an improvement.

Oh, yeah, there's also the black bars on all 4 sides. I don't understand why there's so many versions. I'm sure there are technical explanations that would go over my head.

I remember some of the colorized Lucys on CBS were presented that way, but the on-demand version was full screen.

OK, I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. Antenna TV to the best of my knowledge never did this--why MeTV? Just imagine if MeTV aired All in the Family...

When I watched an episode of 21 Jump Street on the Decades binge they had a "viewer discretion is advised" disclaimer as well. On top of that, Svengoolie also edits really 1970s made for TV movies like Ants and Terror Out of the Sky "for content", as well as Barracuda. I get that kids may be watching, I do, but their parents shouldn't have very young kids watching The Jeffersons, 21 Jump Street, or horror movies. Just sayin'. I didn't watch The Jeffersons so I guessed I missed out:lol:

That seems really dumb. When The Jeffersons aired on TV Land, most episodes actually carried a TV-G rating, with about maybe 10-12 episodes carrying a TV-PG-L rating because of the n-word, yet most of the time it was muted out anyway. This makes it look like something really bad and it isn’t. I’ve never known MeTV to do this on any other shows and some of them contain far more adult content and situations then anything on The Jeffersons.

I'm wondering if the warning was simply on the master tape, as originally shown on the network in the 70s, and was just a mistake airing it on MeTV. It happens on MeTV--on early Brady Bunch episodes, they leave in the original Brady Bunch in Color slide.

(This might be on the DVD set, if anyone has it to check.)

Antenna didn't have it, so it wasn't on the master tapes. MeTV added it as a precautionary measure more than likely. Antenna leaves the original SOAP disclaimer in at the beginning of the show, but they wouldn't add a "viewer discretion is advised" themselves. MeTV just added it, although it seems extreme since they bleeped out N anyway.

So I checked The Jeffersons tonight and there was no disclaimer but the rating did come on and it was rated TV-14-L. That is just ridiculous. There’s nothing in The Jeffersons that should warrant a TV-14 rating. It was only TV-PG-L on TV Land if the n-word was used otherwise it was TV-G. The Jeffersons was one of the more family friendly shows of Norman Lear, with the exception of maybe 3 or 4 episodes. I could understand if a few episodes of All in the Family or Maude were TV-14 as those are more adult themed but even then those are mostly PG and it’s also strange every episode of All in the Family is TV-14 on get. Is this nation just getting too politically correct that classic shows from the 70s need a TV-14 rating?

That’s what I’m thinking. I watched the episode and enjoyed it. Only language I heard were two damns and one hell which is very mild and nothing more than what might be heard on Mama’s Family. Definitely not TV-14 language. The storyline was about the Jeffersons and Willises having a protest party in The Jeffersons apartment and George gets a piano and a piano man to try to impress Mr. Whittendale who ends up not coming. The piano man is also sick and the mover who brought the piano ends up playing. Nothing offensive or inappropriate about that. Don’t know how it got to be TV-14.

And in the past MeTV has aired Cheers, which fairly frequently has sexually suggestive content and its only TV-PG. Makes no sense at all.

MeTV and Decades have done some other crazy ratings as well. Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life are both rated TV-PG on MeTV, and while those two shows do have a small handful of episodes where TV-PG applies, the majority of them should be TV-G. They were TV-G when Nick at Nite aired them about 18 years ago.

Even crazier is Decades. I have seen I Love Lucy, My Three Sons, The Brady Bunch, and Laverne and Shirley all air with TV-PG ratings on Decades. I sure don’t know who came up with that idea.

So earlier in the week I sent an email to Me asking why The Jeffersons was TV-14. No response from them, but when I turned it on today, it’s TV-PG-L. Maybe they saw my email. Hopefully the TV-14 and disclaimer nonsense has stopped. Interesting though, this particular episode I’m watching has one n-word and I noticed it was muted and the closed captions showed XXXXX in place of it, so there’s still some censorship. Seems silly to use the L sub rating if the word is muted.

They always do that even if the words are muted or bleeped. They do it on A&E reality shows all the time, for example. Must be some requirement--I agree it's silly.

The TV Guide shows PG on TJ but doesn't give the reason (the reality shows do).

Thank you.

I read the first 2 pages and the last 2 pages of this thread. It seems like ME-TV is still a somewhat good channel. Too bad ME-TV isn't on any of the streaming sites.

Me-TV's still a good channel, even though it goes overboard with its westerns, M*A*S*H and Hogan's Heroes. I mainly just watch it for Svengoolie on Saturday nights, but occasionally also watch Matlock on Weekdays and WKRP on Weeknights.

ME TV is one of the best of all the retro-channels, and I agree they go overboard with MASH but not the westerns.

MASH really does need to go because it’s on so many other channels.

Absolutely. And Hogan’s Heroes needs to be reduced to one airing and moved to another timeslot.i just wish they would move Diff’rent Strokes, Facts of Life, and My Three Sons to primetime instead of in the early morning. I sometimes watch The Jeffersons and WKRP if I’m around. I also watch Touched by an Angel if I’m not busy on Sundays. I also wish they would bring back the Honeymooners.

Given the hatred of westerns in this thread I'm not sure anyone will care, but after finishing up the color episodes, they're going back to the half hour episodes of Gunsmoke on July 31. I wonder if they're going to attempt what they've done with My Three Sons and go through the entire series in order. No TV channel has ever done that since the original run. I think every episode has aired at one point or another on MeTV but never the whole 20 years in chronological order.

Also that week, they'll be wrapping up the run of My Three Sons. I don't know if they're going back to the beginning the following week.

The Svengoolie movie on August 4th is Son of Frankenstein (1939).

635 episodes...wow, that would take awhile. My Three Sons has taken over a year...it would have been even longer, but they had them doubled up for a couple of months.

It will be interesting to see what they do with M3S, episode-wise. I assume it's staying on the schedule, since we've not heard otherwise.

They need to do two episodes of My Three Sons a day like they did before instead of one. It has so many episodes, one a day is just not enough.

My Three Sons goes back to the first episode on August 6th.

Svengoolie on August 11th is "The Wolf Man" (1941).

Third year in a row...wow. I mean, it's been back but...cool. Classic movie. I wonder when the other Toho movies and the awful TV movies will be back so I can avoid them like the plague (except Gargoyles wasn't awful).

I so wish Decades would do a My Three Sons marathon especially if they’re showing the black and white ones. By the way snowpeck, any updates on more Decades binge marathons in August after the Lucy Show the first weekend?

I don't think my area is even getting Decades anymore, so I'll be missing the September binges unfortunately.

I'd love to see Me-TV send Twilight Zone, Journey to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space, Battlestar Galactica, Hitchcock, etc to H+I, along with bringing back Thriller and other unused shows. Rename that one for a fantasy-thriller channel..Take the crime dramas from H+I and place them in a new channel with Kojak and the like. Love Me-TV for classic comedies and non-action drama. There are a ton out there not airing.

There ought to be a Sitcoms channel. Antenna TV is pretty close.

And also the first Sven movie of September if you have it? Thanks.

Also, I know some people are curious about the upcoming Decades binges if you have any info on that. Thanks again, snowpeck!

Will it be the 60s version or the one from the 90s?

How about Laff? All they show is sitcoms. Antenna also only shows sitcoms and Johnny Carson is a comedy show. Antenna doesn't air a single drama.

The summer schedule must be doing well this year. IIRC they made changes around Aug. 1 last year.
