Couric, in her first appearance on Andy Cohen's talk show since the Lauer sexual harassment scandal (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/62682-hollywoods-dirty-little-open-secrets-harvey-weinstein-and-others-like-him/?page=30), said she was joking and assumed that it was apparent she wasn't serious.
Katie Couric says of Matt Lauer sexual harassment coverage: "A lot of stuff gets misreported and blown out of proportion" (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/katie-couric-doesnt-think-full-extent-matt-lauer-story-has-been-truly-reported-1107928)
"I don’t know the full extent of all these things that happened," Couric told Wendy Williams of her former Today colleague. "I can only talk about my personal experience, and I was always treated respectfully and appropriately." Couric also said, for instance, that too much was made of the under-the-desk buttons that locked Lauer's door. "I think it was just an executive perk that some people opted to have, but I don’t think it was a nefarious thing, and I think that’s been misconstrued," she said.
Katie Couric won't comment further on Matt Lauer "out of respect to Matt healing, and the women healing, and NBC" (http://people.com/tv/katie-couric-discusses-colleagues-affairs/)
Couric tells People TV she's said all she's going to say about Lauer's sexual harassment scandal. “I feel like, out of respect to Matt, and also the women who came forward, I don’t want to exploit anybody’s situation at this point,” she says. “I feel like I’ve said everything I’m going to say about it… Just out of respect to Matt healing, and the women healing, and NBC as an organization, coming to terms with the culture that was created there, the environment that existed, I’d rather not discuss it.”
