During the last two episodes of "Night Court's" inaugural season ("Bull's Baby" and "Hi Honey, I'm Dead"), viewers were introduced to court clerk Charley Tracy (D.D. Howard), who was a temporary replacement for the absent Lana Wagner (Karen Austin). Charley was perky and accident-prone, both to a fault...perhaps Charley's most memorable moment--if not her only memorable moment--occurred in the aforementioned "Hi Honey, I'm Dead," when she accidentally discards Harry's lucky rabbit's foot and spends the duration of the episode rummaging through the garbage in an attempt to recover it.

In many ways, I'm a little relieved that Charley didn't become a regular character during "Night Court's" second season; as beautiful as D.D. Howard was, she was an unlikely--and uneven--choice to replace Karen Austin (who departed abruptly after the first ten episodes); had Howard been added to the cast full time, I could've imagined Charley accidentally starting a fire in Harry's chambers or God knows what else...thankfully, Charles Robinson was cast in season two as the level-headed, cardigan-wearing Vietnam veteran Mac Robinson.

What do you guys and gals think of D.D. Howard's performance as the well-meaning but extremely ditzy Charley Tracy? Drop me a line...I'd love to hear from all of you!

Enjoy your day, everyone!
