Aunt Bee wasn’t a mother - she was childless.

Frankie Heck is horrendously self-centered.

Annie Camden is a shrewish, judgemental b*tch.

June Cleaver is a cold fish.

I love Marion Cunningham, but she seemed a bit spacey and out-of-touch with reality.

I’d have to vote for Kate Bradley and Shirley Partridge, who were both warm and sensible and down-to-earth.

Casting a write in vote for Natalie Lane (Patty Duke Show). Kinda surprised she, Carol Brady, or Margaret Anderson didn't make the list.

I voted for Endora. I just love how much she loves her daughter and wants her to not deny her heritage, even though she ends up causing trouble she always wants the best for Samantha. She's just hoping Sam will come to her senses and leave that mortal life behind.

You should've added Louise Jefferson to the poll!

Miss Ellie, seriously? She openly played favorites among her three sons, and the one she didn’t favor grew up to be a sociopath. Then she tried to guilt all her children into living at home as adults, rather than developing healthy relationships and moving out. And she raised her granddaughter even though the girl’s mother was perfectly capable, standing by and doing nothing while Ellie’s husband and son completely cut the girl’s mother out of her life.

She should be nominated for WORST mother. Seriously. She was terrible.

Endora is another awful one. Sure, she’s entertaining. But she’s completely prejudiced against mortals and is horribly manipulative.

You mean to tell me that Roseanne is not even in the running? You don't think she could win Mother of the Year?

I’d argue that Roseanne Conner during seasons 1-4 of the original series was an excellent mother. She was sarcastic, but warm and loving and self-sacrificing (remember when she went to apologize to Kathy Bowman so that DJ would have a friend?).

Then she turned into this self-important, shrill, petty, dishonest person (remember when she stole the extra restaurant stove and tried to sell it?). The new series retains the characterization from the second half of the original series.

Yeah, Endora is entertaining but it's not just about that.

Isn't Darrin just as prejudiced against witches, and also manipulative? He doesn't want his wife or their daughter to practice their natural...heritage, culture, but when it might be convenient for him he's all for it. For example if it's raining and they get a flat tire, he doesn't want to get wet so it's okay for Sam to zap the new wheel on. This is something that happened while he was berating Sam for using witchcraft that day to get ready for his boss's party. What a hypocrite. Who would want their daughter to be married to that? I don't blame Endora for wanting that marriage to break up and wanting better for her daughter and granddaughter.

Endora has also used witchcraft to try to help Darrin be more successful (without him knowing it) so that her daughter could have more than Darrin could buy for them with his natural ability and salary.

I don't blame Endora for wanting better for her only child. She sees Samantha as blinded by infatuation and not seeing things clearly and wants to save her from this mundane mortal life she has chosen to live.

Whatboutism. Darrin is a jerk, but that doesn’t mean that Endora isn’t manipulative, underhanded, and dishonest. To hold her up as some kind of great mother is baffling. I’d nominate her for most entertaining TV mother, because I think she’s a riot. But anyone who constantly interferes in her grown child’s life the way she does is not a great mother.

If you're a mom and you know you son-in-law is a jerk you might just do your best to save your daughter from what you think is a huge mistake.

I think Endora on the outside looking in thinks her daughter is blinded by infatuation and needs to be rescued, and all her antics are her way of rescuing Samantha.

Samantha is WAY grown, she's probably 200 years old or more (Serena has said that Endora "admits" to being 1000 years old) so it's not an age issue, but Endora absolutely thinks she's doing right in trying to get her daughter away from the life she's chosen to live because of Darrin.

I think Endora thinks Samantha has completely lost her mind if she'll choose this boring mortal life when the world is at her feet and she can have anything she wants, and is determined to get Samantha to see that she's made a big mistake. It's probably the equivalent of seeing your child is in a cult and being determined to get her away from whatever brainwashed her into believing that's where she belongs.

If you watch the show and think about the life Samantha chose to live versus the life she could have, you can't really blame Mom Endora from doing anything she can to bring Samantha back to her reality of a life of doing anything, anywhere and having a great adventurous life.

It's easy to watch the show and see Samantha and Darrin as this love story and Endora as a nuisance and troublemaker, but if you look at her as a mother who wants what's best for her child (and grandchild) and you can also see how unreasonable and even awful Darrin can be, it's not hard to get behind Endora's agenda of wanting Samantha to leave Darrin and come back to her "natural" way of life.

I didn't always see Endora that way but as I've been watching the series again I did begin to notice there's so much more to Endora than her wanting to cause trouble for Darrin and I started seeing her as someone who wants to save her child from herself. That's definitely a good mom to me.

But I definitely see your point and had no expectation that anyone else would ever vote for Endora in this poll. Frankly, I was surprised to even see her on the list. Pleasantly surprised.

I voted for June Cleaver. I think her role was the best for being the Mom. Aunt Bee was more of a grandmother type and she had storylines other than just family concerns. And although Aunt Bee and Marie Barone were played by the two best actresses, Barbara was very good. She was very comforting to watch. Jane Wyatt was very good too.

Another vote for June. She could be a little meddlesome, but she never raised her voice to her children and obviously adored them.
