When Silver Spoons re-aired on Nick at Nite back in March 2001, they showed mostly episodes that featured the classic ballad version of the theme song, then in the two episodes(Dexter dates Whitney Houston and Rick moves out), they redid the theme in a higher key and added guitars with a different singer. Then when it went into syndication, there was yet another revision as the theme became a straight '80s rock version.

I knew there were two theme song versions, but I did not know there was a third theme song version when it went into syndication. That's cool.

Well now, I wrote and sang the theme song for SILVER SPOONS along with my partner Bob Wirth. We did the original song and were surprised at the start of one of the new television seasons to hear that the current producer had hired a friend of his to redo the theme song. Different singer; different take on our great theme. We immediately called and offered at our own expense to give them an updated version if that is what they wanted which they did use from then on. Our favorite is still the original!

My fave version is still the original, also. Rik, it's not often that people who write theme songs for shows, much less, famous people respond to message boards. But, thanks for sharing the info on the theme song.

Thank you, I guess. I think of myself as a working musician for which I am very grateful; definitely not as anyone famous, because in truth, I am not. Many people I meet remember that theme song and start singing along, which is always a thrill. I have done other shows and lots of jingles, but SPOONS which was my first television show is still my favorite. :)
