Should "Happy Days" have gone on longer than it did?

View Full Version : Should the series have continued past 1984? James 02-06-2001, 01:56 AM Should "Happy Days" have gone on longer than it did? Ian 02-06-2001, 03:24 AM No, in fact I think the series should have ended when Richie left. Before Richie left "Happy Days" was the greatest sitcom of all time. The post-Richie years where below second class. TJ 02-16-2001, 09:21 PM No, and it probably lasted a season or two longer than they should have.. what do you think James? [This message has been edited by TJ (edited 02-16-2001).] FonzFan 02-22-2001, 12:21 PM No, I also think the show might have lasted a season longer, but I'm glad they pulled it off when they did. It was not as funny with out Richie. ~*~FonzFan~*~ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Red with that apple pie face you can only be so tough. -Fonz ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ThomasE 02-23-2001, 12:22 AM I liked the episodes after Richie had left. The ratings were still up too. However when Joanie and Chachi left that's when it went downhill. I have not seen any of the post-Richie episodes since N@N never aired them. But I'll say it would have been nice for HD to have continued another season just so it would have been on longer than "Cheers." wkrpiscool 03-30-2001, 12:25 PM It did just fine with its long run so I really do not think Happy Days should have run past 1984. ------------------ My favorite WKRP charcter is Andy Travis. The T 03-30-2001, 04:13 PM Although I enjoyed the character of Chachi which sorta made up for Richie being gone, the show still was not the same after he left. I also think the writters were getting tired towards the end and couldn't think of new things to write about. ------------------ See ya~The T *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* Blair: We're responsible for the Wine. They had Laverne and Shirley on it's tail, and then Joanie Loves Chachi, I mean the series couln't last another run. After Ron Howard left, the show went to pieces, so from 1980-1984 I didn't enjoy it. Fonzie got annoying too. I think that Laverne and Shirley could have lasted for a bit longer though. I could have seen Laverne and Shirley do a spin-off. Joanie and Chachi was a bad idea I thought though, and that was cancelled at the perfect time. Joanie was starting to look kind of ugly anyways, and face it Joanie and Chachi was corny as hell. Without Ron Howard, the show went down the tubes. ------------------ Andrew Carden rocknroll7777 04-06-2001, 08:19 PM I would have liked to have seen them in Woodstock ------------------ If "The Facts Of Life" were all about you, why weren't u ever on the show? corwayn2 04-07-2001, 01:48 PM The show took place in the 1950's to mid-60's. I wonder what the show would've been like, if it went into the DISCO ERA of the 1970's. It's almost 20 years since the show went off the air, and they would PROBABLY be about, in 1982, NOW. MARFAR104 04-10-2001, 03:02 PM NO IT WENT ON WAY TOO LONG! FOR ONE THING THEY COMPLETELY DEPARTED FROM THE 50'S LOOK AND BEGAN LOOKING TOO MODERN! ANOTHER THING THE SHOW JUST BECAME A VEHICLE FOR POTSIE'S SINGING! THAT GOT TO BE ANNOYING! THE EARLY EPISODES WERE SO REALISTIC . BUT THE SHOW CHANGED DRASTICALLY AFTER THEY WENT BEFORE A LIVE AUDIENCE! IT BECAME LOUD AND TOO MANY ONE LINERS! ANYBODY ELSE AGREE? TV Guy 04-19-2001, 09:11 AM I totally agree. Those first two seasons are wonderful. Then the audience came in, and the dialogue got awfully loud. And we had to deal with the studio audience cheering every time someone entered the scene (I'm sure the audience was coached). Then, there were all those '70s hairstyles on everyone. And Fonzie became way too prominent; he was much more interesting when he was a mysterious, sort of dangerous friend of Richie's whom we saw occasionally but didn't know too well. By the end of the show, he's preaching about staying in school and turns into "Father Knows Best" in a leather jacket, as one of the reference books says. MARFAR104 05-22-2001, 10:40 AM YES TV GUY, FONZIE'S ROLE WAS RUINED! THE SHOW REALLY WENT DOWNHILL AFTER THAT! WORD'S TO LIVE BY....."IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!" franklopez15 05-25-2001, 06:31 PM I think Happy Days could have lasted longer if Ron Howard and Donny Most would have stayed on the show even with their new families. I have to admit I did like Anson Williams' "Potsie" voice he is a great singer. I do not know where they came up with the character "Roger" he had no clue about life in Milwaukee whatsoever. Television producers needed to keep the Milwaukee flavor in it that is what made Happy Days a special show. And yes this message is to Henry Winkler, you were cool as the FONZ! |
