Well...

...with the NBA Playoffs at the first round...Boston, Toronto, Golden State, and New Orleans are 2-0. I hope the Cleveland Cavaliers can win tonight, otherwise...the Cavs are in jeopardy!

LeBron James may leave, but if he does...James isn't like how he used to be.

I try to watch some of the games but I think some NBA games are rigged by the referees.

Perfect example was the game last night vs. Utah and OKC. While it's true Utah choked away a 25 point lead, the refs had a hand in that happening by calling phantom fouls on both Gobert and Favors, putting both of them in foul trouble and forcing them out of the game, which took away Utah's defense up front and allowed Westbook and George to run wild on offense and erase that 25 point deficit in quick order. The game was a joke, the refs basically handed it to OKC.

OKC is a dirty team with thugs on the roster. Russell Westbrook is a thug, Paul George is a thug. I hope Utah kicks their ass in the next game and sends them packing, but will see what happens.

Cavs and Pacers Game 6 is ****!

The Cleveland Can'ts are under 30 point which I think in unnecessary!

The Cleveland Can'ts are done! LeBron, I don't blame you for leaving or retiring besides, we'll always have 2016!

That's right, you have 2016 so in the event the Cavs fail this year, I don't think you should worry about it too much. There are many people who have yet to see their favorite team win a championship.

Utah almost choked away game 6, but they managed to hang on and send the OKC thugs home for the summer. The Oklahoma team should have stayed in Seattle. I liked them better when they were the Sonics.

Utah vs. Houston now, I don't expect the Jazz to win the series but hopefully they can make it interesting. Utah went 29-6 to finish the season, which calculates to 68 wins over the course of an 82 game season. Houston had 65 wins this season. Could be an interesting series but will see what happens. Utah needs Ricky Rubio in the lineup, hopefully the hamstring injury he currently has isn't too serious.

Donovan Mitchell is awesome, if he stays healthy and keeps his head on straight, he's going to have an amazing NBA career. He's 2018's rookie of the year as far as I'm concerned. I just hope he stays with the Jazz. He says he loves Utah and likes playing there, but will have to see what happens when his contract is up and he's a free agent. I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually ends up playing for the Lakers.

And...

Game 7 was that dramatic save for Cleveland! I wonder if Toronto will be like that or...well we do have a young team and LeBron James, so...

1960'sTVfan
04-30-2018, 09:17 AM
Indiana tried to put up a fight, but no way was LeBron James going to lose a 1st round 7th game at home, he wasn't going to be denied.

Cleveland vs. Toronto, should be an interesting series and Toronto has the advantage, but LeBron James still plays at a high level so the series could go either way.

Utah vs. Houston, without Ricky Rubio on the floor running the offense, Utah has zero chance in the series. It will either be a Houston sweep or Utah might get lucky and win a game. If Rubio plays, the series might get a little more interesting but will see what happens.

Regardless of what happens with these playoffs, Utah looks to have a bright future with Donovan Mitchell, he will just continue to improve as a player. During the off season, Utah might want to consider a change at the power forward spot. I like Derrick Favors, but he's inconsistent, plays good in some games and a non factor in others, he's not a good free throw shooter either. If Julius Randle from the Lakers would be available, Utah might want to consider signing Randle and letting Favors go. Randle is a few years younger and I would consider Randle as an upgrade over Favors.

Surprised to see Utah win tonight at Houston, but this has been the Jazz pattern, in 3 out of their last 4 playoff series they've lost game 1 but then came back to win game 2.

Donovan Mitchell at point guard while Ricky Rubio is out, Mitchell didn't have a great shooting night but he got other guys involved, Joe Ingles was a hot shooter tonight with 27 points. Series goes to Utah now for games 3 and 4. Donovan Mitchell might be a rookie but he's a confident player and he transfers that confidence to his teammates.

I predict that Houston Rockets can likely beat the Utah Jazz in either 5 or 6 before moving onto the Western Confernce Finals. As For the Eastern Side of the Confernce Semis, Cleveland Cavaliers vs Toronto Raptors can go to 6 games while Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers can possibly go to 7 games.

With Ricky Rubio not able to play, I figured Houston would sweep Utah or the series might go five games. With Utah winning yesterday and evening the series, it changes my thinking a little. Odds are Houston will still win the series but will see what happens.

I'm surprised on how the Cavaliers are doing...but if it's Cleveland vs Golden State again...it'll go either way.

Toronto lost the first two games at home vs. Cleveland, so maybe the Raptors are scared of LeBron James. If the Raptors don't play better these next two games in Cleveland, the series will be over quickly.

The Warriors lost game 3 vs. the Pelicans, so at least for now that series is a little more interesting.

And Utah looked terrible losing game 3 vs. Houston, maybe the Rockets will take the series in 5 games after all. Ricky Rubio hasn't been able to play because of an injured hamstring, and now Derrick Favors has an injured ankle. If Utah loses game 4 they might as well throw in the towel and go into summer hibernation.

I really think Utah should consider making a change at power forward, Derrick Favors seems to be injury prone and even when he plays he's inconsistent, plays good some games and a non factor in others. And I'm not all that fond of Rudy Gobert either, he's a good defender, rebounder and shot blocker, but he's awkward on offense and can't create his own shot, Gobert is basically a modern version of Mark Eaton. If the Jazz have an opportunity to upgrade, I wouldn't mind if they got rid of both Favors and Gobert. How about a front line of Julius Randle and LaMarcus Aldridge? I could go for that, although at age 32 Aldridge is getting to be an older player. It's possible the Jazz might part ways with Favors but they'll probably keep Gobert.

1960'sTVfan
05-05-2018, 11:15 AM
I was thinking, why do the Jazz always end up with these slow, clumsy, awkward players at the center position? First there was Mark Eaton, then Greg Ostertag, now it's Rudy Gobert. Of the three players, Gobert is the most talented but he's clumsy too.

In between Eaton and Ostertag, the Jazz had Felton Spencer at center for a few seasons. Spencer was actually showing promise and turning into a decent center, but about 30 games into the 94-95 season he suffered a leg injury, I think he tore his ACL, and he was gone for the remainder of the season and playoffs. If I recall, the Jazz were in Boston playing the Celtics when the injury happened. Spencer came back in the 95-96 season but he wasn't the same player and his minutes had to be limited. Then in 96-97, Spencer was gone and the Jazz put their faith in that oaf Ostertag and gave him a fat contract. Dikembe Mutombo was a free agent after the 95-96 season, he ended up going to Atlanta, Utah should have signed Mutombo instead of throwing their money away on Ostertag.

The Jazz also had Olden Polynice for two seasons but he was at the end of his career, he played with effort and energy but was a terrible free throw shooter.

I'm not really following these playoffs anymore now that Utah is eliminated, although I didn't expect the Jazz to beat Houston anyway. Donovan Mitchell is just a rookie, too soon in his career to advance very far in the playoffs. As I said before, I wouldn't be surprised if it's another Cavs/Warriors final.

Derrick Favors might have played his last game with the Jazz, he's a free agent and rumor is he might sign with Atlanta. I like Favors but he's been an inconsistent player, injury prone too, I wouldn't mind if he left as long as the Jazz find a better player to replace him, if they could snatch Julius Randle away from the Lakers that would be an improvement.

Utah has a 7 footer they drafted, Tony Bradley, but he's still a developing player and probably a few years away from making an impact if he makes it that far at all.

The Indians aren't so bad, the Cavs certainly aren't bad but they might hit the skids for a few years after LeBron James leaves or retires.

The Browns are a different story, that team is abysmal. A 4-44 record over the last three seasons, including 1-15 two years ago and 0-16 last year, but looking on the bright side things can only improve and it's doubtful they'll go 0-16 again this year.

There is, however, nothing wrong with having spaghetti once a year for 4 years in a row.

This is the first time in North America for the same championship matchup 4 years in a row. Besides the NBA last year, here's the other times teams had met 3 years in row (info from NBA.com):

• In MLB, the New York Giants and New York Yankees met in the World Series in 1921, '22 and '23.

• In the NFL's pre-Super Bowl era, the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns clashed in 1952, '53 and '54.

Oh man, apologies to Mr. Cleveland, but JR Smith grabbing the rebound and running the wrong way while LeBron frantically tried to point him to the basket was freakin' hysterical.

JR Smith is getting chewed-out by many today! He could've won the game...we have three more chances and at least we didn't get blown-out unlike in Boston until Game 7!

The other thing Smith did (has LeBron had him cut from the roster yet?) was take the focus off the referees, because that video review call at the end that changed charging to a block was pretty bogus.

If LeBron decides to retire and still work with the Cavaliers...I wouldn't mind that. Sure, we'll be MIA in the postseason, but if LeBron can organize the Cavs...that'd be awesome!

And I'm sure Smith will hear from LeBron as well!

I'm already happy with the Cavs winning it all in 2016...I'm worried about The Cleveland Indians more so. When do they play against The Boston Red Sox?

Plus...California has a big market...The Midwest, unless you're Chicago...doesn't.

But you do realize it'd be much harder for him just reaching the Finals in the West, having to go through teams like Golden St. or Houston just to make the Finals. I'd stay East. He's already shown he can beat Boston, even with a mediocre Cavaliers team.

This is the reason why if the NBA expands to 31 or 32 teams soon, The East should have 17 teams and the West should have 15 because the West has more advantage.

NBA East

Atlantic:
Boston Celtics
Brooklyn Nets
New York Knicks
Philadelphia 76ers
Toronto Raptors

Central:
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Detroit Pistons
Indiana Pacers
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves

Southeast:
Atlanta Hawks
Charlotte Hornets
Miami Heat
Memphis Grizzlies
Orlando Magic
Washington Wizards

Northwest:
Denver Nuggets
Portland Trailblazers
Seattle Supersonics (Expansion Team)
Utah Jazz
Las Vegas or Kansas City

Pacific:
Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings

Southwest:
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
New Orleans Pelicans
Oklahoma City Thunder

The power between the conferences shifts over time. I'm sure if you look back you'll see years when the East was much stronger than the West. Eventually it'll shift back.

I just see the NBA West having more advantage...and honestly...if the MLB expanded to 32 right now...this is how it should be...

NL East:
Atlanta Braves
Miami Marlins
Montreal Expos (expansion)
NY Mets
Philadelphia Phillies
Washington Nationals

NL Central:
Chicago Cubs
Cincinnati Reds
Milwaukee Brewers
Pittsburgh Pirates
St. Louis Cardinals

NL West:
Arizona Diamondbacks
Colorado Rockies
LA Dodgers
San Diego Padres
San Francisco Giants

The NL East gets an extra team because of the Megalopolis area and it can be weak.

AL East:
Baltimore Orioles
Boston Red Sox
NY Yankees
Tampa Bay Rays
Toronto Blue Jays

AL Central:
Chicago White Sox
Cleveland Indians
Detroit Tigers
Houston Astros
Kansas City Royals
Minnesota Twins

AL West:
LA Angels
Mexico City Devils (Diablos Rojos del México)
Oakland Athletics
Seattle Mariners
Texas Rangers

But if the Tampa Bay Rays decide to move to Las Vegas and call themselves the 51s...then the Washington Nationals would go to the AL East since historically...that team was in the AL and Mexico City gets to be in the NL Central! But the AL Central should have the extra team since that's always a weak division.
