This one is a total shocker. I don't usually get emotional over actor's death (a few I have, John Ritter especially) but I find myself misty eyed right now.

I think a "Night Court" marathon is in my future.

Harry Anderson remembered by Night Court alums and fellow comedians (http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/harry-anderson-dies-reactions-night-court-1202754995/)
"Aw man, I'm so sorry to hear this," tweeted Night Court co-star Marsha Warfield. "Rest in peace, Harry the Hat, you were my friend." fellow co-star Markie Post tweeted "I am devastated," while John Larroquette wrote he was "Heartsick." Judd Apatow relayed how, when he was 15 years old, he interviewed Anderson. "He was a one of a kind talent who made millions so happy," tweeted Apatow. Neil Patrick Harris tweeted (https://twitter.com/ActuallyNPH/status/986038993090260994) that he had become "friendly" with the fellow magician over the years, and he "recently sold me a handful of great magic memorabilia." Steve Martin added (https://twitter.com/SteveMartinToGo/status/986028037270654976): "Harry was also a stellar magician and solo entertainer."

I'm sure you didn't get over Robin Williams' death either...anyhow, Harry Anderson is now with the other NC members Selma Diamond and Florence Halop.

John Larroquette:

Harry Anderson. He was wicked smart. He was wicked funny. He had a big laugh. He had a big heart. He delighted in legerdemain especially when he caused someone to scratch their head and proclaim; How the hell did you do that? And he could eat a hamster like no one I ever knew.

Markie, Charlie, Marsha, Richard, me and the N.C. gang were on a carnival fun ride with Harry. It was a blast. Out in the cosmos tonight, with his fedora at a rakish angle and a 'Watch this' wink to us, he’s coaxing whoever might be out there with him; Pick a card. Any card.

When I found out about Harry Anderson's unexpected death last night, I was completely shocked and equally devastated. I grew up watching Harry on "Night Court" as a teenager, and I also enjoyed his performance as the adult Richie Tozier in the ABC miniseries "It." Harry was a talented entertainer who brought joy and happiness to my life...I still watch him on "Night Court" occasionally.

May Harry rest in peace...he will definitely be missed.

Harry Anderson: An appreciation (https://uproxx.com/sepinwall/harry-anderson-tribute-night-court-cheers/)
The magician-turned-sitcom star only appeared on Cheers as Harry the Hat six times, yet it felt like more because he made the character "feel so assured and lived-in," says Alan Sepinwall. He adds: "What’s impressive about Anderson’s transition from Harry the Hat to Night Court judge Harold T. Stone is that he wasn’t a master thespian. Anderson was again playing a fedora-wearer fond of close-up magic, yet the characters were emotional opposites: Harry the Hat a cool and ruthless hustler (even on behalf of the good guys on occasion), Harry Stone a warm and gentle overgrown kid basking in his dream job and finding a way to enjoy every minute of it. Stone was that rare sitcom beast: the straight man character who was just as funny as the lunatics he was there to tether to reality. He was almost always having a good time on the bench, which in turn made Night Court itself even more fun to watch."

ALSO:

John Laroquette tweeted a lengthier tribute overnight: "He was wicked smart. He was wicked funny. He had a big laugh. He had a big heart" (http://ew.com/tv/2018/04/17/harry-anderson-dead-night-court-markie-post-celebrity-reactions/)

How to stream Night Court: You can pay to download whole seasons, but the NBC sitcom isn't available on a streaming service (https://decider.com/2018/04/17/where-to-stream-night-court)
Anderson experienced highs and lows with his New Orleans magic shop, pre- and post-Hurricane Katrina (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2018/04/17/after-night-court-harry-anderson-opened-a-new-orleans-magic-shop-then-came-hurricane-katrina/)

My mom already knew about the news when I was about to tell her. My dad called her at lunch and then she looked on one of the work computers because she did not know the cause of death.

She said that Harry was 64, not 65 when he passed along with saying heart attack when it was really a stroke.

Sucks that LAFF isn't on satellite where I could record these. Still. I'm happy they are paying tribute.

Wish NBC would do the same. They usually air classic SNL at 10 and they should air the episode Harry hosted in 85.
