I'm not sure what she means about packing a rod. The show to a large extent stood on the emancipation of women and putting their new empowerment into action in the new society of the 1980s, where these women were still in a man's world yet kept pace with them, whilst keeping their femininity in the process.

they were a great team

Never cared much for Cagney & Lacey other than the theme song. It was however one of my Mom's favorite shows.

I can't see how they can transpose it into a different era without losing something. I haven't quite put my finger on it..
