This thread is directed at anyone who is familiar with a TV station called MeTV. It has been a few years since it first came to New Jersey and I started watching it. Well, at 2 o'clock this afternoon, there was the 9th season episode called "Big Apple Blues". It is my understanding that this episode was one of a bunch of attempts at a spin-off of this show. I was nineteen-years-old when I saw it in prime time. I thought that the character of Natalie did especially well in this episode. The part of the episode in which I really thought that she outdid herself was when she realized that her purse had been stolen. When she reached to take her purse from over her shoulder, she said "what is this? I have a purse strap with no purse! There was a purse attached to this strap!" I really felt as if I had a friend whose purse was stolen! I think that Mindy Cohn should have gotten an award for her acting in this episode.

Mindy’s performances become and more polished as the series ran. Too bad the writing failed her on this episode. It’s easy to see why the spinoff didn’t sell. None of the new characters were particularly likeable and they had no chemistry with each other. One thing you have to give to the cast of Friends: they had great chemistry and seemed as if they were friends. Not so for Big Apple Blues.

Those are some very interesting observations. I am also not surprised that this spinoff attempt did not fly. Even if it did not work as a pilot, however, I thought that Mindy Cohn as Natalie did a great job of acting. Also, while we are on the topic of "Friends", I have posted a bunch of messages on that show's page. I would be very interested in what you think of any of them.
