I am thrilled about this. I am studying addiction and am going into my internship. I applied for and was accepted for a program. I have to attend several seminars they pay for, including one in Florida, and the one in Florida they give me 1,500. I then have to become certified in several other programs, like DUIs. I am so excited.

Congratulations !!

$1,500 probably won't go very far while you are down in Florida
Save for the trip. :) .

Thanks everyone! This is cool because I'll get additional certifications and research is involved as well (I love research!).

Yeah Foggy, that is something I am concerned about. Someone told me that is after hotel, and travel but who knows. I told my dad and he likes the idea of coming with if he can and we can drive there (he loves to drive). This part is still up in the air so I'll see what it entails. The other parts are local seminars probably in downtown Chicago where all I have to pay for is the train and maybe food (and they said they reimburse).

I'm not sure how long you would be in Florida?
It most definitely will help if travel and hotel is paid for and all you would have to pay for is food.
Keep receipts of everything (gas, food, hotel).

Maybe this site can help a little in planning the trip....driving could take around 18 hours plus (depending on traffic and road construction)

Thanks everyone! A few asked me why I got a grant and basically I applied and had the right credentials. I have a 4.0 GPA and want to work in something related to research. I am considering going to got get a doctorate and work on research in PTSD and substance abuse in combat veterans. Not sure yet but I want to counsel veterans because I know so many who have substance abuse problems. Whether that happens who knows, I might switch after my internship (I have to take two semesters of internships).
