Why were Fred and Betty the only ones with normal-looking eyeballs?

I thought it was cool they all had unique eyes. It gave the characters more personality.

I think Barney's eyes became more like Wilma's in later seasons though.

I know!! Isn't it cool?? I love the Flintstones! ;) And it's really neat how Pebbles has Wilma's hair color and Fred's eyes! ;) And Barney with just little circles as eyes, and than I guess the later Seasons they were black dots like Wilma's !:D How about when Fred wrote that poem to Wilma, with that line "Eyes as black as frying pans" !!That was hilarius! :lol:

All of the characters have pretty normal looking eyes aside from Barney, Wilma, and some background and side characters.

I used to think perhaps Fred and Betty were cousins and maybe Wilma and Barney were cousins.

I think Barney developed cataracts, in light of the change Bonniegirl mentioned. Before that, we might've said he was a distant relative of Little Orphan Annie. :)

Yeah, you would think people with 6 toes and 8 fingers would have normal eyes.

It would be hard for Barney to wear contact lenses !!:lol:
