Maybe I'm offbase by saying this, but I get a feeling that NBC might be considering some sort of Moon spinoff?!? The last couple of seasons of Frasier, has really delved into Daphne Moon's family. We've seen Daphne's offbeat Mum and Dad, as well as her eccentric brother Simon. It reminds me of the final years of Cheers when a lot of episodes were devoted to Frasier Crane and eventually led to a spinoff of his own.

But the idea of a Frasier spinoff wasn't even concieved until after the Cheers run...

Yes, you are off-base in suggesting this as a spinoff.

I'm offbase with what? Suggesting that maybe NBC might CONSIDER a MOON spinoff or that Frasier is a spinoff of Cheers(Which by the way it is) I know that Frasier didn't develop until a couple of years after Cheers signed off. As I said on a different thread, the original Kelsey Grammer show concept was about a high powered executive who after some sort of accident is bed ridden and forced to work from home. My point was that obviously the Cheers writers loved the Frasier character and kept on expanding his role season after season. I'm sure after awhile all that screen time led NBC to pursue a spinoff rather than Grammer playing a totally new character.

I wonder who would be in the spin-off (if there is one)? Would it be Daphne's parents, her brother, her and Niles, maybe they would all live in a really big house in England.

I agree! Off base with what? You never know. At least I think its a good idea.

It can't be that crazy of an idea!?! I mean look at how NBC and the rest of the networks have had problems developing successful sitcoms lately. Spinoffs from hits like Frasier might be less risky than a sitcom starting from scratch. NBC is already considering a Friends spinoff starring Matt Leblanc so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.

I believe a spin-off series with Daphne's character would be great! Of course, would this mean that she would have to break it off with Niles in the sequel? I think Jane Leeves is a fantastic actress and comedienne and deserves her own showcase series!!! :)

The funny/sad thing about it is, many actors don't want to continue reprising roles once their initial series ends. I guess they fear being type cast as one particular character. Even Kelsey didn't want to reprise Frasier Crane in a spinoff initially. As great a character as Daphne is, I think Jane Leeves might have issues with committing herself to another series based on that one character. I think if a spinoff were done, it would focus more on her eccentric family.

I'm sorry to bump this topic back up, but I've been watching a lot of Frasier in syndication and I still think a Moon spinoff with Daphe's mum and brother would be fantastic!

wouldn't it be a little crazy though a spin off of a spin off??

Well it can't be Simon.Anthony LaPaglia is on "Without a Trace" and Brian Cox is too big a star to do a show about Daphne's Dad.They could always bring in another Moon family member but Simon seems to be the only one that would have worked.

Millicent Martin (Daphne's Mum) is also pretty famous here in the UK, or at least she used to be. My gran knows who she is - put it that way!

So that probably counts her out too, I'm afraid.

dancrchic26, It wouldn't be that strange. Maude was a spin-off of All in the Family and Maude had a spin-off called Good Times. The Jeffersons, another spin-off of All in the Family, also had a spin-off called Checking In.
