View Full Version : What do you think of Bill Daily?? ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 05-23-2002, 02:36 AM Are there any Bill Daily fans in here?? If so, or even if your not, tell me what you think of Bill on my poll. Cactus Jack 12-01-2002, 01:21 PM I like him on this show!!!:D Impressions 12-01-2002, 01:33 PM He is one of my favorite characters on the show, I like all his jokes about aviation and being a pilot. mister bluster 12-29-2002, 05:37 AM I thought he was funny. TJL 12-29-2002, 09:31 AM I think he's a great comic actor. He also was able to display his talents on two hit sitcoms, which is rare for any actor to do. I wish he was working more these days. I hpe you saw the PBS special that was on last month when Bob Newhart recieved the Mark Twain prize for his achievements. Bill Daily gave a very funny speech, with some great anecdotes about the show and Bob Newhart. He's still got great timing. :) dandelion wine 02-11-2005, 01:40 AM Love him! I thought he was very funny. Mr. Television 02-11-2005, 02:41 AM I always liked Bill Daily. gilligan fanatic 02-14-2005, 04:32 PM he is great here he is great on Alf he is great on jeannie sg1niner 04-19-2005, 01:24 PM Bill rules. My avatar is a good clue on that. hoosierelvisfan 04-19-2005, 02:44 PM I liked him in Jeannie but I thought he was even funnier in Bob Newhart Show. Signed, Respectfully, Dutch Bonsai 04-29-2005, 09:25 PM Bill Daily was really terrific---very talented actor with a great sense of timing. It's really really hard to make a strong impression with a supporting character, especially if the tone of the character is somehow negative, like with Howard being nosy, needy, clueless, etc. the Hartley's loved Howard, but I'm sure only the time that he was working on flights all over the world made that possible. CAJeannieFan57 05-01-2005, 10:45 PM I loved both of his main characters - Roger Healey on IDOJ and Howard Borden on TBNS. The man himself is wonderful. I've had the privilege of meeting him twice, and he is funny in person as well. Still a cutie, too, for a man of 76. Donna AB 05-04-2007, 08:20 PM I like him better now than I did the first time I saw the show. His character kind of grows on you. TURBOCSX 05-04-2007, 08:38 PM I loved him on The Bob Newhart Show, and on I Dream of Jeannie. It's kind of funny how he managed to play a pilot on both shows. I mean, even though he was an astronaut on jeannie, he was still a pilot. Do you think the original concept called for a pilot and then people auditioned for it? or do you think the concept called for a wacky neighbor, bill daily auditioned and got the part, and then they made him a pilot? Would be interesing to know. I also liked him on Match Game. CAJeannieFan57 05-04-2007, 09:28 PM Answering the question about Howard and how he got to be a pilot - the story told in the book, "Hi Bob" by Joey Green, was that he was not in the original plans and pilot for the show. But when the show needed a wacky neighbor, somebody mentioned Bill Daily, and the creative juices flowed. Evidently Lorenzo Music and his cohorts hesitated to put Bill back in a uniform, because of IDOJ, but the idea of a pilot constantly turned around by jet lag was too good to resist. So back Bill went into a uniform - but they kept him out of a green one. His original uniform was blue, then turned khaki, then eventually you saw him back in a blue one again. roseha 05-05-2007, 12:03 AM Maybe Bill played two pilots because he's good at playing space cadets :) He is indeed a funny guy. catlover79 05-05-2007, 01:20 PM A truly funny character actor. I loved how he made Howard so dumb but incredibly loving and innocent.
