What books do you want to read? Say like over the summer? LOL I know a lot of you don't want to read anything over the summer. Neways, here is *moi*'s list (I hope to read one or two over the summer)

"Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier
"The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson
"The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacob
"Turn of the Screw" by Henry James
"The Crucible" by Arthur Miller
"The Picture of Dorian Grey" by Oscar Wilde

I kno some of them are probably out of print so that marks off some..and the fact that I wouldn't get to read that much and some of those books are big..but newayz I'll shut up now

LOL i hate reading it's a waste of time for me but the only book that i do like is the book of list for kids and summer vacation starts in 17 hrs and 49 min woooo

That is a really good book. You know another good book that you may like? Flowers for Algernon. Damn that is a sad book. It took me about 20 minutes to read the last 3 pages because I was crying so hard to read it clearly. If something makes me cry that much it has to be good. Go Ask Alice is another good book. It has a sad ending too, it was based on a true story btw. Sorry my topic took a 180, but seriously if you do decide to read "The Lottery" it is a good read. They had the book at my school library, I know I checked it out about 20 times over the past 2 or 3 years. lol

Go Ask Alice is awesome. It is sooo sad though. Theres a buncha really good diaries like that. "It Happened to Nancy" is another good one.

I want to read Flowers for Algernon. The other CA class is reading it and I wanna.

Do you guys like mysteries?? I LOVE Them lol.. i like the light ones.. not the heavy ones yuck.. those ar etoo graphic for me lol.. I havent found any good books to read yet.. can anyone suggest some for me?? thanks!!:)

I found that to be incredibly boring and hard to understand. There is a lot of sex stuff in it but of course they don't point it out to us in school... bummer.

lol- I tried reading Romeo and Juliet too. I think I gave up on that scene too. I just find it boring to read the old English type books. They just don't make much sense. If it was wrote in a modern kind of lingo, I wouldn't mind- but using the historical stuff just makes it so dull.

Hey I actually read that whole book. Purdy good if ya read carefully. "ROMEO! ROMEO! WHERE FORE ART THOU ROMEO! DENY THY FATHER AND REFUSE THY NAME! BUT IF THOU WILT NOT, BE BUT SWORN MY LOVE AND I'LL NO LONGER BE A CAPULET!"

The Shakespeare in Love book is awesome too. It's not a book about the movie, it just has lil parts from Shakespeare stuff...its kewl too.

I love Romeo and Juliet...I read it a couple years ago. My favorite character is the Friar. Its not bad if you can get the hang of the language. And its such a great story. Actually, those last 2 sentences describe all of Shakespeares works...

Me too Cara.. i love historical fiction :) Im a history buff/freak/fanatic so lol... do you read John Jakes?? he's aewsome... what books would you suggest? Im going book shopping again sometime soon.. and dont really have an idea of what to get.

it happened to nancy, go ask alice and annie's baby are good books. annie's baby was kinda boring but it was so sad how pathetic this girl was....

i wanna read "treacherous love" (true story), "smack," "we were the mulvaneys," and "today you're a ma'am" (by valerie harper, i gotta order it though...)

I ADORE Romeo and Juliet; it's one of my favorite plays! As to getting past the first scene... well, I found the beginning of the first scene to be quite amusing, even though it was a little dull afterward. But it gets so much better. "Tis but they name that is my enemy. Thou art thyself though, not Montague. What's Montague? It is nor hand nor arm nor foot nor face. Oh, be some other name belonging to man! What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet, so Romeo would--were he not Romeo called--retain that dear perfection he owes without that title. Romeo, doff thy name! And for thy name, which is not part of thee, take all myself." That's my favorite line. God, I could read this play a million times over and still not get tired of it.
