Corkys-Place 03-26-2018, 11:47 PM Interesting article about the reboot of the show in the Australian media today.

Tom Arnold recalls Roseanne Barr banning him from dating Roseanne colleague Laurie Metcalf (https://www.tvinsider.com/676663/roseanne-tom-arnold-laurie-metcalf-dating/)
"One night, while partying during pilot week in 1988, Roseanne, who was in the front seat with Goodman, noticed me holding Laurie’s hand in back," Arnold wrote (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tom-arnold-reviews-roseanne-reboot-i-can-watch-can-you-1095879) in his review of the Roseanne reboot. "The next morning she called me into her office and told me, 'Writers cannot date actors. That’s a rule of show business.' Who was I to break a rule of show business?"

Saw the bulk of the clip, everything after 4 minutes.
4:22 is where the Tom fun starts. Liked Roseanne's retort.
By 5:24 in, Roseanne sums it up the best, though the groups thing started long before 2016 and that's unfair for her to imply (though I don't believe she meant to say it like that).
Wendy's hot BTW. :)
Roseanne acknowledges audiences didn't like the last season (as if the audience was to blame, if I understood her vocal inflection correctly?) Season 9 was a farce but I loved the finale at the time. Shame the new season, which takes place in the same feel of season 3, ignores what the finale said.

I loved it. And the truth is if it wasn't for Roseanne nobody would even know who Tom Arnold was. lol
Sara Gilbert: Trump's name is never mentioned on Roseanne -- Roseanne Conner is the only Conner who supports him (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/roseanne-revival-will-never-mention-trump-by-name-1098623)
"The Conners aren't Trump supporters," Gilbert (http://www.pajiba.com/celebrities_are_better_than_you/what-are-sara-gilberts-politics.php) said on Watch What Happens Live. "Roseanne's character is a Trump supporter — she's the only one — and we never say his name, actually, in the show." The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that President Trump's name never is mentioned in the first season.
Roseanne boss expects to continue not mentioning Trump's name in Season 2 (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/roseanne-boss-asks-viewers-separate-revival-controversial-stars-persona-1099523)
In a wide-ranging interview, co-showrunner Bruce Helford reflected on all the hoopla surrounding the past week, including Roseanne Barr's new controversies and accusations that the show panders to President Trump's base. He also responded to Trump trying to take credit for the show's ratings success. "It's always weird when someone at that level weighs in on these kinds of things. In any case, everybody wants to be part of a winner, so everybody sort of jumps in," said Helford. When asked if Trump's name will come up in Season 2 after not being mentioned in Season 1, Helford responded: "We never set out to be a show about politics. We set out to be a show about the Conners and how the current political climate affects the family. We made a point of not mentioning names in the beginning and I believe we will probably maintain that same thing. There is no agenda here, in any direction. The idea is to present all sides of the dialogue. Making it specific like that isn't necessary. That's not what we're doing. We're not talking about the personalities involved. We're talking about the effects of all the politics on the lives of people like the Conners."

“You’re not Archie Bunker, you’re Bernie Sanders!” Maher said of Roseanne on Real Time, adding: “Like it or not, you are now the face of the Trump supporter because you really do speak for a certain kind of American who knows they’re being screwed by someone, they just don’t know who. But here’s what you’re missing about Trump: When he says he’s ‘looking out for the little guy,’ he’s talking about his d*ck. And as your friend, Roseanne, I must remind you of something very important: You’re a socialist! You’ve been one for 30 years.”
Babalu 04-29-2018, 08:26 PM And the truth is if it wasn't for Roseanne nobody would even know who Tom Arnold was.

"This is America, it’s a free country, and when you weigh it all together, I just felt like we needed a whole new thing. All the way. Bottom to top.”
Dr. Thong 05-01-2018, 05:27 PM Prior to Roseanne, who even heard of Tom Arnold?
And prior to him calling out his ex-wife, who even knew that Tom Arnold was still around?
I'm no Trump supporter in any way, shape or form, but Roseanne has the right to her opinion.
And I have the right to not watch her show.
Corkys-Place 05-01-2018, 09:20 PM Appeared on last year's Australian series of "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" whining the whole time.
I happened to Google Tom Arnold and was surprised by his net worth. I don't remember him doing that much in the entertainment field. Did Roseanne pay him a boatload of money to get out of the marriage or something?
Mr. Television 05-02-2018, 02:10 PM The only successful thing Tom Arnold did without her was in the movie True Lies and he was hardly the star.

That movie came out at just the right time. Arnold had been dumped by Roseanne and fired from the show. And True Lies came out right after this happened. It bought him some time and for a few years, he managed to do okay.
If that movie had come out a year later, I don't think Arnold would have been as successful.

No more so than Roseanne, who's revived a sitcom that died 20 years ago.
I think she's living off past glories myself.
Four former Roseanne writers say the Trump-loving version of the character is unrecognizable to them (https://www.buzzfeed.com/krystieyandoli/roseanne-writers-original-trump-revival-reboot)
“A lot of people involved in the show were surprised when she turned right-wing and supported Trump because that was just not the person or her character that we had known,” says Stan Zimmerman, who wrote for Roseanne for two seasons. Miriam Trogdon, another two-season alum, adds: "I don’t think that Roseanne Conner would’ve voted for Donald Trump. I don’t think that she would’ve, but apparently she did.”

Well would the Roseanne Arnold actress back in the 90's have voted for him? Well she has.
