When I was a kid, I remember seeing an episode of mission impossible that had a scene where one of the characters was trying to cross an area that you could not walk across. It may have been in a building. If some thing touched the floor it would disintegrate. I remember that the character was crossing from above on a rope and dropped a pack a cigarettes.
