I’ve never watched this show before but I see Decades is having a marathon of it on their binge March 17-18. Is this a good show I would enjoy?

There are a few fairly funny episodes (I watched one rotation of it on MeTV), but quite honestly, it is sometimes strangely written, and has odd, mostly-unresolved endings. The Walter Denton character has an annoying, high-itched voice--you either get used to it so it becomes less annoying, or they told him to tone it down as time went on, probably due to complaints. The Boynton/Brooks interplay is normally pretty funny, and the writing obviously gives most of the comedy to Eve Arden and Gale Gordon. Since the Boynton/Brooks thing is one interesting/funny aspect of the show, it's odd they decided to drop it in the final season (and, evidently realizing their mistake, brought the Boynton character back mid-season--too late to avoid cancellation).

The holiday episodes are pretty good, and different from most. The Connie/evil twin Bonnie episodes from the final season are funny.

I'd recommend giving it a try, and reviewing it here.

I've liked the other work Gale Gordon and Eve Arden have done, so it's no surprise that I'm enjoying their efforts here. Another big plus for me is seeing Mary Jane Croft. I've long admired her and it's great to have more of her work available.

I agree with stevea about Walter Denton's voice; I much prefer Richard Crenna on The Real McCoys.

It's interesting to see Bob Sweeney in the final season.

I have seen the series on one of retro stations. Yes the Bonnie/Connie eps are funny. Yesterday my local library played the movie of Our Miss Brooks filmed in 1956. It showed Connie meeting Mrs Davis, renting a room from her and working at school with the same characters as the series. It ends with Connie and PHil Boynton getting engaged. I would have like to see the last scene a wedding for engagements can go on and on and Connie still felt she hadn't really snagged PHil. The last series season on OMBrooks had actor Bob Sweeney who I thought was the funniest character in that last season. Little did I know he went on to directing the Andy Griffith Shows and many others.

I watched this last weekend on the Catchy Comedy binge and thought it was pretty good. Loved Eve Arden and Gale Gordon . Also Connie's landlady was really funny ! Agreed about the Richard Crenna character. He / his voice was kind of annoying but I got used to it. All in all I thought it was a good, funny show ! The wholesome 1950's format and not being in color made it very quaint and charming ! I would highly recommend this show!;):)
