In Season 2, episode 17, "Red Tape," the Williams' met Gerda, a foreign exchange student from Norway.

Even though there are more than five ways to say farewell in Norwegian, the writers scripted Gerda to say "auf wiedersehen" when she left, which is actually German.

I guess they thought that was close enough.

I haven't seen anything from seasons 1 thru 3 in years. I do have a few of those episodes, which have all probably lapsed into the public domain by now.

Hi. The first 3 seasons of the show at last i checked are in the public domain. Saw a couple of DVD'S at the 99 CENTS STORE AND THE QUALITY OF THE IMAGE IS REALLY HORRIBLE! Sorry about the caps! They used to show these episodes in the 60's when NBC showed seasons 1-9 in the afternoons.

These episodes (like the ones in seasons 4,10 and 11, before Cozi TV showed them) haven't been shown on TV in years.

Unfortunately public domain doesn't translate into a good source.

When you say SEASON 2, do you mean the 1954-55 season which hasn't been broadcast in YEARS or do you mean Season 6 ( the 2nd season 1958-59 with Marjorie Lord)?Curious!In that season they take in GINA as an exchange student from Italy!
