View Full Version : How come Cheryl Ladd never gets credit for being a longterm Angel?

It seems the public often goes on and on about which Angels were the original or who came first. However, I think a certain honor should go to Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd for being the two longterm Angels who never left.

I think they get "credit" for being there long-term, but not as much recognition as the more popular Farrah and Kate.

Farrah was the pop-culture phenomenon. I had her poster on my bedroom wall in 1976/77 (even though Kate was my girl), so did all my neighborhood friends.

Kate had the recognition from being in Dark Shadows and the Rookies.

So, in comparison to Farrah and Kate, Cheryl and Jackie were sidelined.

I can't believe how few episodes Farrah Fawcett actually did. I thought Farrah was on for years but it was only 22 episodes. She really made a mark on the world in one short season.

I'm just now watching Cheryl's first scene in her first episode. She's lovely.

The reason it seems like she was on more was because she was a major reason for the show taking off like it did. She was everywhere.

And Cheryl Ladd was great. She really saved the show because it could have went in another direction if the public didn't accept her and they did. It's just years later that it seems like she's forgotten but at the time she was big.

I wonder why the public accepted and embraced Cheryl Ladd back then but ignore her now. From what I understand, Cheryl Ladd was more popular than Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson back then.

- People age, visibility decreases and times change.

- Back when CA was popular there were 3 VHF tv stations and 3 UHF stations. Today there are 100's of shows on cable tv today filled with pretty women who can act. Lots of variety and choices.

99% of the members in this forum like living in the past... myself included. If I had a time machine I would go back into the 70's and stay there.

Okay but if it's due to people aging and times changing and visibility decreasing, then why don't they ignore Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith?

And in Cheryl's case, she was the replacement for the phenomenon. Farrah may have only been there for one season, but she was one of the originals and was the first one to have a major impact.

I thought Cheryl Ladd was great, but the show suffered creatively IMO after Kate Jackson left.

Farrah was a 70's pop culture icon. No one can deny that. If Michael Jackson hadn't died on the same day, Farrah would have gotten even more attention. However, I don't hear too many people talking about/referencing Farrah these days except people on this forum.

Kate Jackson gets attention? She was accused of being a trash hoarding drug addict about 10 years ago. Since then... nothing.

Jaclyn is sometimes featured because she is aging so gracefully, but I haven't heard about her anytime recently either.

Cheryl did a great job replacing Farrah. I actually liked Cheryl a bit more than Farrah, however, Cheryl never approached Farrah's celeb/pop-culture status. Cheryl did save the show, so in that regard she may have been more integral to CA than Farrah was. All this has been discussed many times and is very debatable.

Kate Jackson leaving was the death of the show. I know many blamed Shelley Hack but I thought she was fine. The show was going to suffer regardless. Kate was the one Angel that was irreplaceable.

I don't understand why some make a big deal about being an original Angel. Cheryl Ladd was a big part of the show. In fact, I feel that most of the episodes were centered around Kris. Seems kinda odd to just exclude her when she was in 4 of the 5 years of the show.

How is Cheryl being excluded? Who is doing the excluding? CA fans? The media?

I think Cheryl was warmer and seemed more accessible. Like Farrah was kind of unreachable (it may have just been shyness), but you could walk up to Cheryl and say hi and that she would respond nicely to you.

Yesterday, for Star Wars day, Cheryl posted a vintage pic on Facebook of her wearing a Star Wars T-shirt.

May 4th is also my B-day! party:

and Audrey Hepburn's.

My Mom and Farrah share the same B-day on Feb 2nd.
