Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,
I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Disney's Buena Vista Television (a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) for Nick at Nite to have exclusivity in airing the hit '90s Disney sitcom "Boy Meets World," with the show officially moving from TeenNick to Nick at Nite starting April 2, 2018, airing weeknights at 10 P.M. ET / PT after Nick at Nite Movie Night.
Created by Michael Jacobs, "Boy Meets World" originally aired on the ABC Television Network from September 24, 1993 - May 5, 2000, for 7 years of 158 episodes. The show starred Ben Savage (younger brother of "The Wonder Years'" Fred) as Cory Matthews, a typical American 11-year-old boy living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Like most boys his age, Cory was in 6th-Grade and lived at home with his parents: dad Alan (William Russ), a Grocer; mom Amy (Betsy Randle), a homemaker; teen brother Eric (Will Friedle); and kid sister Morgan (Lindsay Ridgeway).
The first season was videotaped at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, and also in the main cast was Cory's best friend, Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), and their teacher, Mr. George Feeny (William Daniels), who was also Cory's next-door neighbor--a fact Cory disliked occasionally.
In the second season, taping for the rest of the series moved out of Walt Disney Studios and into CBS Studio Center in Los Angeles, California for the rest of its run; at the start of the season, Cory, Shawn, and his future wife, Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel) enrolled as 7th-Graders at John Adams High School, where they were joined by the school's new Principal, Mr. Feeny, and their new Homeroom/English Teacher, Jon Turner (Anthony Tyler Quinn), who in Fall 1995 became Shawn's legal guardian until Shawn moved back with his father, Chet (Blake Clark), who in 1999 would die of a Massive Heart Attack, leaving Shawn and his half-brother, Jack (Matthew Lawrence), without a father.
In 1998, at age 16, Cory, Topanga, and Shawn all graduated from John Adams High and enrolled that Fall at Pennbrook College; soon afterwards, Mr. Feeny retired from Education after nearly 40 years--but not for long, however: initially enrolling as a classmate of his former students at Pennbrook, Feeny quickly became promoted to a College Professor by the school's Dean Bolander (Bonnie Bartlett).
The following Fall, midway through Season 7, Cory and Topanga, at age 17, got married; months later, in the hour-long Series Finale, Topanga got an internship in New York City, New York; as her husband, Cory decided to go with her, taking Shawn with them; Shawn's half-brother Jack, meanwhile, decided to enlist in the Peace Corps; and in a final, tearful goodbye, Mr. Feeny taught his former students a final lesson in life: "Try. Do Good," and after everyone else left, Feeny said: "I love you all. Class Dismissed."
In 2014, Disney Channel aired a spin-off series for 3 years, titled "Girl Meets World," which saw Cory and Topanga as proud parents of THEIR OWN teen daughter, Riley (Rowan Blanchard). The spin-off lasted 3 seasons until Disney Channel cancelled it in early 2017, with the series filmed at Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles throughout its entire run.
"Boy Meets World" was produced by Michael Jacobs Productions in association with Walt Disney Television.
Sincerely,
Steve Arino
