While currently revisiting this series in high def (Amazon/Itunes) I got to wondering exactly how many other shows used the Radford lagoon set? Knowing the set was demolished for a parking garage is devastating to my inner child-- I had always imagined I'd be able to visit the location and splash around just like Gilligan did.
The original outdoor set was heavily overgrown in the first Rescue movie, and it looks like totally different locations were utilised in the last two-- where are/were those located? Anyone know? Pictures?
Alas, here's the last thing to land on Gilligan's Island:

It is said that the set was used in movies like "Creature From the Black Lagoon", though I think the setting for that was much more vast. Perhaps it was only for close-up shoreline stuff..
But the set turns up and is very recognizeable in other shows (slightly re-dressed) like McHale's Navy, Gunsmoke (stripped of the fake palm trees), Get Smart (as an underwater entrance to a secret hideaway which, once we see it, is filled with props and costumes from The Monkees, no less!), The Wild Wild West, It's About Time (including a familiar space capsule), Wonder Woman and even briefly in Dusty's Trail (Bob Denver in the water again)..
And the lagoon is also in an episode of TJ Hooker, The Obsession. If you check on Dailymotion, there's a crappy copy of the episode where you can see the lagoon at 33:31. Here we get a quick look at the familiar shore line from a rare angle facing away from Studio 2, plus a fully dressed lake house that is just barely visible through the trees at the start of the GI episode called "Will The Real Mr. Howell Please Stand Up". That was apparently a fully functional/filmable production office/house/bungalow utilised as a dressing room and rest area when filming the show.
Drained.. about to be filled in:

Anyone spotted the lagoon in any other show or movie? Ever see it in person? Got any candid pictures of the area?
