Cybill Shepherd is celebrating her 68th today. After working as a model in her teens, she was cast by director Peter Bogdanovich as Jacy Farrow in The Last Picture Show, receiving a Golden Globe nomination (and also entering a relationship with the director). She then starred in Elaine May’s The Heartbreak Kid. After this auspicious debut, her film career began to fizzle out—Bogdanovich’s Daisy Miller and At Long Last Love were failures, and a prominent role in Taxi Driver did not reverse her career decline. In the 1980s, she bounced back as one of the stars of ABC’s Moonlighting, winning two Golden Globes as Maddie Hayes.
