View Full Version : You Take The Bad - Least Favorite Episodes RoryGilmore 02-15-2018, 02:23 AM We all love the show as a whole but does anyone really like every episode? Shout off your least favorites below! TV Guy 02-15-2018, 04:56 AM I find the first 13 episodes, which took place in the dorm with Mrs. Garrett as the housemother, unwatchable. So much bad writing, so much bad acting. Brian and Sylvia, the failed spinoff attempt, stinks. Smartboy 02-15-2018, 07:50 PM I find the first 13 episodes, which took place in the dorm with Mrs. Garrett as the housemother, unwatchable. So much bad writing, so much bad acting. Brian and Sylvia, the failed spinoff attempt, stinks. While we are on the topic of "Brian and Sylvia", I have had an issue with that situation for a long time. By the end of that episode, Brian and Sylvia were still happily married. Later on, we have the episode "Crossing the Line". In this episode, we hear Tootie talk about what it was like when her aunt married a white guy and how people felt when they got divorced. This was the first that I remember hearing about the divorce. I do not understand why they would, all of a sudden make them divorced without an episode explaining the situation. Any thoughts anyone? Oddly, I just watched "Crossing the Line" the other day and missed the divorced part. However, I do skip "Brian and Sylvia in my rewatches so I may just tune their storylines out. '80sSitcoms 02-16-2018, 11:03 AM I love "Brian and Sylvia". It's very nostalgic for me because it's one of the many episodes I vividly recall watching at my grandparents' house, where I saw so many FOL re-runs when I was little and my parents were at work. As far as their divorce, there didn't need to be any explanation on that because they weren't important enough characters; this was their only other mention on the series, three seasons after their only episode. Enough time had gone by we can just assume they had problems and got divorced. I do skip "Brian and Sylvia in my rewatches so I may just tune their storylines out. Well they don't have "storylines", just their one episode and that one mention of divorce. And regarding season 1, I adore season 1 for nostalgia's sake, but Julie Piekarski's acting is so often terrible. But as far as least favorite episodes, one of my least favorites for sure is season 6's "Jazzbeau". I don't even watch it anymore when I watch the series through. It just seems like such a waste of an episode. JR1 02-18-2018, 08:16 PM Any of the pilot-spin-off-idea shows, like the ones featuring the guys at the academy, come to mind. 70s show watcher 02-18-2018, 08:31 PM Any of the pilot-spin-off-idea shows, like the ones featuring the guys at the academy, come to mind. i agree the academy ones were awful tlc38tlc38 02-18-2018, 08:34 PM "The Interview Show" is the worst one I can think of. '80sSitcoms 02-20-2018, 11:12 AM ^---I like "The Interview Show", particularly Tootie and Mrs. Garrett's interviews. I'm not big on "The Academy", though; the only really enjoyable parts of that for me are the scenes with the girls. Agreed, I liked the Interview Show, not the best but not the worst, and didnt like the Academy I or II Impressions 02-24-2018, 07:10 PM The Big Fight. Boring AF. RoryGilmore 02-27-2018, 02:45 AM I want to add "Beginning of the End" and "Beginning of the Beginning" I hate that the finale was a spin off attempt and we barely saw the girls RoryGilmore 03-21-2018, 02:11 AM Here's another, I dont like Geri as a character! Shocker and maybe unpopular opinion, I'm aware, but as someone with cerebral palsy I absolutely detest how they made her out to be a victim in some episodes. BigManMike 03-21-2018, 06:43 AM The first season was dismal. I agree Brian and Sylvia wasn’t the best episode either. And the season 3 episode about Tootie and Jermaine Jackson was just annoying. But I still watch all of them as I don’t believe in skipping episodes. On the other hand, I really like the episodes that centered around Blair and her mother, and the ones that centered around Jo and her family. RetroGuy2000 06-27-2018, 07:23 PM I enjoyed the first four seasons. After that, it grew tedious, with Edna opening and then closing store after store, and the girls living in an increasingly cramped attic year after year. The bakery years weren't so bad, but the writers clearly ran out of ideas around the time they opened the Miami Vice-inspired shop. '80sSitcoms 06-28-2018, 11:52 AM Allow me some devil's advocate play, lol ;) After that, it grew tedious, with Edna opening and then closing store after store If she opened 3 or more stores I could appreciate that, but I don't think only 2 stores qualifies as "store after store" (I mean, yes, you could say technically a 2nd one after a 1st one is "store after store", but we know that when people use that kind of expression it's usually for more than just two of something, lol). and the girls living in an increasingly cramped attic year after year. Actually it was a large bedroom, not an attic; Tootie and Natalie eventually moved into the attic (which was only seen maybe twice after it was included, if that!) And how would it be "increasingly cramped"? It's not like the walls were moving in. Sorry to sound nitpicky, I just felt a devil's advocate game coming on, lol. :p The bakery years weren't so bad, but the writers clearly ran out of ideas around the time they opened the Miami Vice-inspired shop. Yeah, I enjoy the Enda's Edibles seasons. To me that's the "silver age" after the "golden age" of the first four seasons. RetroGuy2000 06-28-2018, 06:25 PM If she opened 3 or more stores I could appreciate that, but I don't think only 2 stores qualifies as "store after store" (I mean, yes, you could say technically a 2nd one after a 1st one is "store after store", but we know that when people use that kind of expression it's usually for more than just two of something, lol). As I said, "store after store". ;) Would you accept "recurring store premise"? Actually it was a large bedroom, not an attic; Tootie and Natalie eventually moved into the attic (which was only seen maybe twice after it was included, if that!) And how would it be "increasingly cramped"? It's not like the walls were moving in. It was increasingly cramped because people accumulate more stuff over the years. Also, the girls were bigger than when Tootie was, like, 12. And even the characters themselves said they were feeling more cramped. Don't ask me how that attic Tootie and Natalie shared even existed, hanging off the end of Over Our Heads! Sorry to sound nitpicky, I just felt a devil's advocate game coming on, lol. :p No worries; we're never going to agree on everything! Yeah, I enjoy the Enda's Edibles seasons. To me that's the "silver age" after the "golden age" of the first four seasons. I can agree with that. Eastland was definitely the golden years, and there were still some great episodes during the rest of Edna Garrett's run, particularly during the bakery era. I do, for example, fondly remember the Halloween bakery episode, which spooked me as a kid. Gemini_89 08-06-2018, 11:00 AM The episodes centered around Blair's mother and her new baby sister. I didn't care for them as characters. I did like the episodes about her father though. I don't like Blair but I felt bad for her with her father's situation in those episodes. Natalie's family episodes was boring but it's interesting that she is adopted. I liked Jo's family and I liked Tootie's family.
