I have NEVER seen looped-over dialogue on a sitcom before. Not until re-watching "Valerie" on Antenna. So far I have seen two instances of dialogue being looped over the actors' lines in post-production.
The first one was in Edie McClurg's first appearance as Mrs. Poole. She is leaving through the front door and tells Valerie to call her Patty, and Valerie Hogan says a response, but you can't tell what she originally said because Valerie Harper looped new dialogue over this in post-production; her words don't match her mouth movements. And I believe it was the same with Edie/Mrs.Poole when she said "Call me Patty" (or whatever the line was).
The other incident I can't remember which episode, but it was Valerie and David in the kitchen; I would have to see it again to catch it.
Anyway...I found this very odd!
