That's what I mean...The Beatles WERE The 1960's!

If there were No Beatles...music would be stagnant! It's stagnant today, but...that's another story!

Yeah, Quincy Jones is a great producer, blah blah blah, but that comment he made about The Beatles was way out of line. It's one thing to have an opinion about the Fab Four and all that , but he should know that The Beatles gave EVERYONE a career in music after them. Including him.

If The Beatles were so terrible in his estimation, then why did his young charge who made HIM millions Michael Jackson buy the entire Beatles catalog 35 years ago??

You have made a classic and common mistake. An artist is to be judge by the art he/she makes. Not by his or
her personal opinion about things. If I only supported artists whose opinions about various topics paralleled
my own opinion, I would miss out on a lot of quality music.

Quincy Jones apologized Thursday for some of his remarks in two interviews published by GQ and Vulture in recent weeks.

“I am an imperfect human & I’m not afraid to say it,” Jones — who celebrates his 85th birthday on March 14 — noted in a statement he shared on Twitter. “And I’m sorry & I’m not afraid to say it.”





The music industry legend explained that “a couple weekends ago” his six daughters staged a “family intervention” in response to the controversial interviews. In addition to criticizing Taylor Swift’s music, Jones said that he “used to date” Ivanka Trump and friends Marlon Brando and Richard Pryor once had sex with each other, among other claims.

“I have LEARNED MY LESSON,” wrote Jones on Thursday. “Let me tell you, I’m so grateful for my daughters because they aren’t scared to stand up to their daddy.”




Jones elaborated that “even at 85, it’s apparent that ‘wordvomit’ & bad-mouthing is inexcusable,” expressing remorse that “this bad-mouthing has contradicted the very real messages I tried to relay about racism, inequality, homophobia, poverty… you name it.”

He concluded by thanking family and friends for “calling me out,” though he noted that it’s “difficult to receive criticism or discipline (especially publicly).”

Jones signed the note, “Love, an 85-year-old bow-legged man who is still learning from his mistakes.”

I'll give Quincy Jones that...but if Twitter was around 52 years ago and Lennon made his infamous "Bigger Than Jesus" quote...that would've broke the internet for days!:eek: :eek: :eek:

I've never been a big Beatles fan. Yes they changed the music, but it was going to happen anyway, if it wasn't them some other group would have come along and done the same thing. I do like some Beatles songs, but in my opinion the majority of their catalog is vastly overrated.

I actually prefer Paul, John, George, and Ringo as solo musicians. In the 1970's after the Beatles breakup, their songwriting improved and these four lads from Liverpool made better music as individuals compared to the entire time they were together as a group.
