First does anyone have the DVD’s? I could swear this episode starts in the kitchen with Beaver saying Miss Landers is sick and they have Mrs. Rayburn. Wally mentions Jerry Lewis. I could be wrong but the episode starts with Mrs. R assigning a composition and getting some ideas. I hate editing.

Also is this the first time we see Richard?

I thought Larry’s composition was very poorly written. He must have said dental nurse 18 times. Mrs. Mondello must have been a dental nurse in 1920. Beaver’s paper was very interesting and glad he didn’t get punished. He never learned to stop embellishing the lives of his father and mother. (Beaver’s Hero)

I think winning a blue bathing cap at camp, selling blue and red books and serving sandwiches to the soldiers was interesting. Not?

One question from this episode.

Which was not an idea that was recommended by the students to write about?

a. tigers

b. submarines

c. baseball

d. movie stars

e. mothers

Yes, Ward asks about track practice, and Wally says Eddie was cut from the squad. Then there was the Jerry Lewis remark about Eddie's hijinks. Then Beaver enters, and (after Ward has him remove his hat) asks Ward for 20 cents for flowers for Miss Landers. June asks what the occasion is, and Beaver says she's sick, and the class is spending $4.00. Beaver says Mrs. Rayburn is taking over until Miss Landers gets back. There's a little more conversation about not messing around with Mrs. Rayburn, then it dissolves to the classroom.

I think you're right--I think this is Rich Correll's first appearance, unless he was in some miscellaneous classroom shots with no lines.

I'll leave the multiple choice to someone else, since I just watched that part again.

Thanks Stevea!! I was wondering which episode had that scene talking about Eddie acting like Jerry Lewis. Why did they have to edit it out. Why start it with Mrs. Rayburn as their teacher without explanation? Like how you swear there’s another scene in June’s Birthday about plans to sing at Mrs. Harrison’s house. Was she Gilbert’s mother?

Yes, she was Gilbert's mother before Mrs. Bates became his step-mother. We're not sure how the lovely Mrs. Gates fits into the picture.

June's Birthday still bugs me.

I think the answer to the MC is c. baseball.

Beaver suggested tigers.
Whitey suggested submarines.
Richard suggested movie stars ("My cousin was in the army with Sal Mineo!")
Larry suggested mothers ("Well, wasn't that sweet of Larry?")

Correct!
