What started out as a radio show became an annual game show sensation every year from the 40's to 1995 and it was known as the GE College Bowl and which teams of different colleges test their knowledge of trivia and continued to be aired every year even on The Disney Channel in 1989 hosted by Pat Sajak. In 1995 BET brought back the GE College Bowl under the name Campus All-Star Challenge and featured singer Clint Howard as the host and the classic theme song was written by Don Reid. This is one game show that should return to TV because it was such a classic and with a great host the GE College Bowl would get big ratings if they decided to revive it for a new generation of people today

I totally agree! I have also felt that College Bowl should be revived, capitalizing on the popularity of another successful quiz show Jeopardy. It's a show that people can test their knowledge against these very bright students. It was a show that had parity as academic giants such as Harvard, Fordham and Oberlin competed along with lesser known school including Sweet Briar College of Virginia and Agnes Scott College which were two all women's colleges. On the final NBC episode in 1970, Albright College of Pennsylvania had a team of varsity scholars.
It's a great idea to bring College Bowl back. I have been wondering about that for years. It set the standard for a challenging quiz show. I should also add that the host of the Campus All-Star Challenge was Clint Holmes, who was known for the 1973 hit song "Playground in My Mind."

Hi, Bestie! I'm with you, they should bring back the college bowl. I bet the college kids were smarter back then than now.
