In our interview with "Law & Order" vet Sam Waterston on his "SVU" guest appearance, he told us that he sometimes thinks about what television would be like if Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" was still on today.

"There certainly would be plenty to talk about, wouldn't there?" he said of HBO's politically themed TV news drama. "It would have been a wonderful platform for him to be able to talk about what's going on today, and it's something that we could sure use.

So yes, if you miss 'The Newsroom' not being there to talk about what's going on today, I'm with you. I feel the same way. But on the other hand, Charlie would be dead."
