There's a gospel song that has the same title. I don't know how many of the cast members are still living, but it'd be cool if they did some sort of reunion movie and they had someone sing it as a theme song instead of that upbeat theme song that has nothing to do with it.
Take care and God bless

Yes! I did know that there is a gospel song "One day at a time" ! ;) And I agree a reunion movie would be great! ;) Sadly two of the cast members have passed away,:( but all the others are doing well and healthy! :)
But I don't agree that the Gospel song should be sung instead of the original theme song! The show wasn't a religious one, it was about a divorced woman with two teenage daughters moving away from a small town to a bigger city to start a new life. The woman never was on her own before nor had she ever worked. So anticipating how things might get difficult they kept a positive attitude and took things "One day at a time" ! Hence the very upbeat theme song that VERY much had a lot to do with the show! ;)

Well they could always have some gospel singer do some cameo appearance and sing it. I found out it can be sung regardless of gender because if a dude sings it, he sings he's only human. He's just a man. I've watched a few reruns while I lived with my mom, and I'm trying to remember if they even did any music in the episodes themselves. I see what you mean about the show itself having nothing to do with the song though.
I remember the mom, and it seemed like she always had a melancholy expression on her face.
