The actress is “fielding (a) slew of pilot offers," reports Deadline. “The development may come as a shock to TWD fans because her character is alive and well on the show where death lurks around every corner,” says Nellie Andreeva. “A fan favorite, Cohan has been on the series since the beginning of Season 2, which she joined as a recurring, becoming a series regular in Season 3. Cohan’s contract is up at the end of TWD‘s current eighth season, making her available for new series.”

"The Walking Dead" co-star Lauren Cohan has been tapped as the female lead opposite Scott Foley in "Whiskey Cavalier", ABC’s hourlong action-dramedy pilot from Bill Lawrence, Dave Hemingson and Warner Bros. TV.
Cohan had been one of the most sought-after actors this broadcast season, fielding more than half-dozen offers before choosing the ABC project. While she will be a series regular on "Whiskey Cavalier", I hear her deal allows the actress potentially to return to "The Walking Dead", reprising her fan-favorite role as Maggie on a recurring basis should she is able to make a new pact with AMC.
I hear there are no current negotiations with the cable network, but the production schedules of the zombie drama would not interfere with her duties on "Whiskey Cavalier" if the pilot is picked up to series.

Over the weekend, The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple said he was "incredibly hopeful about" Cohan returning (http://tvline.com/2018/02/18/lauren-cohan-the-walking-dead-contract-season-8/) for Season 9 of the AMC series. “These things do happen in TV,” he told TV Line. “But we’re talking.” In the meantime, Cohan, one of the most popular actresses this pilot season, has signed on to co-star opposite Scott Foley on action-dramedy pilot Whiskey Cavalier, playing a fiery CIA operative opposite Foley's FBI agent. Her joining Whiskey Cavalier doesn't mean she's leaving The Walking Dead, since the pilot could still be rejected. Deadline also offers the possibility that Cohan could recur The Walking Dead (http://deadline.com/2018/02/lauren-cohan-star-whiskey-cavalier-abc-pilot-could-return-the-walking-dead-amc-season-9-1202296481/) for Season 9, even if she's attached to the ABC series.

Amid ongoing contract negotiations for season 9 of "The Walking Dead", one star has publicly come out in support of actress Lauren Cohan. Although Cohan’s character Maggie is still alive and well on the show, the star has not yet signed on for another season.
On Sunday, Khary Payton (Ezekiel) posted a photo of her to his Instagram with the caption, “pay the woman” — perhaps adding to speculation that Cohan has been seeking equal pay with costars like Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus.

Khary Payton spoke out for his Walking Dead co-star on Instagram, posting a picture of her earlier this week with the words: "Pay the woman." Meanwhile, Cohan suddenly dropped out (http://deadline.com/2018/03/walking-dead-lauren-cohan-contract-battle-khary-payton-walkerstalkercon-amc-whiskey-cavalier-amc-abc-1202331861/) of this weekend's Walker Stalker Con in London.
JamesG 04-25-2018, 02:27 AM "The Walking Dead's" Lauren Cohan to Return for Season 9

The Hilltop will have its leader back for season 9. Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene on "The Walking Dead", revealed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday night that she will indeed be returning to the AMC drama.
While stars Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus had previously signed on for season 9 — which begins filming next week — Cohan had been a holdout as she negotiated for a better deal.
When Cohan joined the ABC pilot "Whiskey Cavalier", her future on TWD became even more tenuous. However, the actress was at CinemaCon to promote her upcoming movie Mile 22 with Mark Wahlberg, and when asked about her status for the upcoming season 9, she revealed that she will be back.
“I’m going back,” Cohan told EW. “There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell.” As for what viewers can expect? “You know we’re not allowed to tell you anything, but it’s good,” she teased.
The status of "Whiskey Cavalier" — in which Cohan plays Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (whose codename is Fiery Tribune), a CIA operative who must work with FBI agent Will Chase (whose codename is Whiskey Cavalier and is played by Scott Foley) — and whether it will receive a series order from ABC is still unclear, but since "The Walking Dead" starts filming next week, Cohan would most likely have at least two months free before having to begin working on the new show, and perhaps much longer than that if, for example, the ABC program becomes a midseason entry and starts filming later.
And, of course, if "Whiskey Cavalier" is not picked up all, then Cohan would be free to film the entire season of TWD, since the zombie drama’s shooting schedule usually ends in early December.
