The Spice Girls are Officially Reuniting - Everything We Know So Far
by Madison Vain
Feb. 2, 2018

After photos from their London-based reunion sparked an internet frenzy, the Spice Girls have announced that 2018 will see them back together.

“We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together,” the group — Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, and Melanie C — said in a statement to EW via Beckham’s publicist, Jo Milloy.

“We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together.”

While they didn’t specify what opportunities they’d be entertaining, they added that their mission would be to bring their girl-power sensibility into this era.

“We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls,” they wrote, “while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”

The Sun reported ahead of the photo that a “secret meeting” had been planned for the Spice Girls with longtime manager Simon Fuller to discuss “TV projects in China, a new telly talent show, endorsement deals, and a compilation album celebrating their greatest hits.”

One hitch in the plan, according to The Sun, appears to be that Beckham (a.k.a. Posh Spice) does not want to provide vocals for any reunion projects.

Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice Says The Spice Girls aren't Going on Tour
by Nick Romano
Feb. 10, 2018

Victoria Beckham is the first Spice Girl to address those reports stating the girl group is gearing up for a reunion tour, and her comments may disappoint fans.

“I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour,” the former Posh Spice told Vogue while preparing for her show for New York Fashion Week.

“It was so great to see the girls,” Beckham said. “We had such a fun lunch. It was really, really, really lovely. I still speak to them all individually, but for us all to get together was really lovely.”

“There’s something so strong in the message of what the Spice Girls stood for,” she added. “What is that in the future? What does that look like? We were just bouncing ideas around. Brainstorming.”

Noting her fashion collection, Beckham said, “But this is what I do.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean a Spice Girls reunion won’t happen further down the road. Beckham remarked, “I think there’s so much that the brand can do, and it’s such a positive message for young kids. What does that look like in the future?”

Though, she reiterated, the future is “not me in a cat-suit.”

Mel B Says Spice Girls Reunion is "Finally" Happening: "We Are Touring!"
by Nick Romano
June 27, 2018

There was some speculation and reports back in February that the Spice Girls were reuniting, but then Victoria Beckham shot down that chatter.

Now, Melanie Brown (a.k.a. Mel B) has lifted our spirits once more when she appeared on the "Today" show’s Kathie Lee & Hoda segment to definitively declare, “We are touring!”

“I still love performing. I’m the only one that keeps on saying, ‘We’re gonna be performing,’ which we are gonna be performing,” Brown told Hoda Kotb. “Finally they got it together.”

But wait a minute! What about Beckham’s comments? Kotb brought up how Posh Spice told Vogue, “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour.”

“She’s always bloody saying that,” Brown said. “Stop it! We are touring!” In case that wasn’t clear, she added, “Yes, we are going to be doing performances together, for sure.”
