There are still a few good dramas on prime-time network TV but it's the sitcoms that are just God-awful. A friend of mine told me to watch "2 Broke Girls". He said it was the modern-day "Laverne & Shirley". I couldn't believe what I was watching. That something so horribly written and acted was on prime-time. It was like watching a high-school sitcom produced for a cable access channel. You don't have anyone creative in Hollywood anymore. They seem to be unable to do much of anything in that town anymore except bash Trump and act like perverts.

I like it.

It's been too long.

However, I don't like the idea of a reboot = remake.

I DO LIKE the idea of a former television series CONTINUING a series WITH THE ORIGINAL CAST.

My thoughts:

6 episodes ordered only for season 1.

If successful,

13 episodes ordered for season #2.

Honestly, the only one that popped out to me was as hit was "Quantum Leap", if it includes Scott Bakula.

But obviously he's contractually tied to CBS.

"Murphy Brown" is risky...the show hasn't been a hit in syndication and the current political environment is much more heated than it was.

These "shows" have built in audiences and with massive dwindling numbers and Netflix keen on experimentation it seems logical to do so.

They obviously have had some success.

It sure beats the hell out of shows like "9JKL" and "Kevin Can Wait".

As a fan of reunion movies, I love that revivals are the craze. Revivals when you have members of the original cast and its more or less a continuation of the original shows.

I'm with cnnvscbs and vampirevsrobot on reboots. I would rather hsve the original series be continued than remaking it

After being let down so many times, I have learned to hate them.

Hollywood creeps always find some way to crap up good, classic shows.

Don't hate them...Fuller House actually pleasantly surprised me.

That said, I'm kinda over them now...I'd rather keep some shows in the 90s. I'm not a fan of any celebrity shoehorning politics into the script (liberal or conservative), so I'm wondering how the Roseanne reboot will handle all the Trump references. The original didn't seem to get too political, so I'm kinda curious.

Looking forward to Roseanne, especially for Roseanne herself and especially John Goodman. I don't consider the last season of the original show canon and can be sloughed off as a dream and start the show again. Hopefully Roseanne, and I thinks she has, chilled out a lot and won't be a nutcase like she was when her show was first on.

I don't think reboots are awful, but I have not seen any of them to be honest. I know Hawaii 5-0 has been on many years now and is successful. Dunno about Will and Grace, but probably their demographic are pleased enough. The Mcgyver show seems successful. TV seems to be a hit and miss proposition, and frankly mostly miss, so if a formula works and can work, do it again.

Yeah, it was nothing close to Laverne & Shirley. The two broke girls were completely unlikeable and it seemed like every joke was a sexual innuendo or some play on words. It got old super fast. I'm glad TBG is cancelled. It was terrible.

I actually enjoy Fuller House more than the original. It kept the same plot and formula but it wasn't so saccharine and more adult-oriented that it is fresh to audiences.

On the other hand, another TGIF reboot, Girl Meets World, was flat out terrible. Because it was targeted to kids, it had that saccharine taste to it still (every character was perky) and they were limited to the boundaries of their demographic. I'm glad it's cancelled.

I'm also anxious to see how they'll handle Roseanne's season 10. I mean, sure, it can't be any worse than season 9, I just hope the majority of jokes aren't aimed at Trump. It gets super old when most of comedies are doing that already.

As much as I'm no fan of reboots I'd like to give Fuller House a try.

But on the other hand there are a few shows that could be improved with a better budget.

I wonder what the word is on Fox's take on this called Revival.

I like some of them including Hawaii Five-0. Roseanne seems okay so far, though she isn't as snarky as she was in the first go round. Will & Grace is pretty good too. I guess it all depends on what you like and can tolerate.
