My runner-up would easily be "Dark Shadows", I almost voted "other" for DS but it was probably the least soapy soap. "Edge" was about 50% soap and 50% crime drama. Soap operas are shows that air 5 days a week with a storyline lasting weeks, months, and years. One soap, besides the obvious All My Children, I miss is Spyder Games from MTV. That one was pretty good. It had a few actors from Sunset Beach in it. I was bummed when MTV canceled it so soon after its initial 13 week start. It was before my time in the 60s but I heard someone talk about it on the radio & she said there's never been a soap opera like it before or since because it's a soap with spooky undertones. Stopped watching after Michael Zaslow was fired though. My Mom watched Secret Storm too. I was so young then.
