Whoa... I mentioned the Biskitts in my 2018 wishlist and news today is that it'll be released on dvd next month! Excellent!

I already have the Monchichhis, so for me all that's left is Ewoks and Paw Paw Bears.

Paw Paw Bears will probably come out. I mean if Devlin and Its Huddles can get a release......

Ewoks is highly unlikely, thats caught up in a rights mess Im sure nobody wants to touch. Just like the 60s Fantastic Four series.

I knew there were licensing issues with Ewoks, but not sure exactly why. I bought quite a few of the UK VHS' that were released in the 90s - all with original theme music. If they could do it then, why not now? I also bought the later butchered release - that was a weird compilation.

They could do it then because it was different companies that owned the rights (also the UK had different distributors).

But, now-

The licensing issue being that one company produced the show (Nelvana) but the character and image rights are owned by another company (Disney). Unless Nelvana signed a contractual agreement with Lucasfilm at the time that all production and distribution rights would go to Lucasfilm then theres a high chance that Nelvana owns a portion of the distribution rights at least and Disney (whom now owns Lucasfilm) will not want to pay out to them. If Disney is the sole owner of the series now it is still highly unlikely they will release it as they see no $$$$ in releasing old series after their past attempts sold so poorly (Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, etc...). I mean when you think about it Disney owns all of the vintage Marvel animated series (aside from 1966 Fantastic Four), anything Lucasfilm, even some older Saban cartoons! And thats just the big time companies, who knows what smaller production companies they have devoured. Thank the stars that Warner owns Hanna Barbera, Ruby Spears, and Rankin Bass back catalogs otherwise theres a good chance Disney would have got their evil hands around them and we would never see any classic cartoons on DVD. If Disney were smart or at least cared even, they would make a "Made on demand" service like Warner and MGM have. That way they still make their money without ending up with un-saleable backstock and all the fans will be happy.
