In S4:E29 Allan Hunt plays Jeff's baseball friend Elroy "Moose" Edwards. In the very next episode he plays Mary's suitor Stan. They didn't even space it out; Hunt appeared in back to back episodes as different people.

(Moose Edwards was also the name of Alex's college roommate).

Jimmy Hawkins was Mary's boyfriend first as George Haskell and then Scotty. Later he played Jimmy in the hopeful spin-off episode "Wide Open Spaces."

The Donna Reed Show liked the names Elroy, Zack, Stanley, Moose, Herbie, and Jack, using them several times for different characters throughout the series.

Many actors appeared as more than one character (i.e. Miyoshi Umeki as Chio and Mac).

Scotty's last name was Scott, and he had an actual first name, which I forget. In one episode Jeff used the first name instead of Scotty.

Candy Moore played 2 different girlfriends for Jeff. The first one was around the middle seasons (Angie), and the last one was in the final season (Bebe).

Bob Crane also initially played a different doctor in one episode, and eventually morphed into Dr. Dave Kelsey.

Hey, Stevea. Thanks for the info. I haven't seen seasons 6-8 in ages. Like everyone, I am waiting for them to come out on DVD.

I didn't know that about Scotty and now I am curious to find the episode where Jeff calls him by his real name!

I just watched "The Cool Cat" (S2:E38) where Jimmy Hawkins was Jerry Hager! (This was after being George and before being Scotty). Mary gave him a kitten.

After that he was Scotty until Jeff introduced him as Jerry Scott in "Boys & Girls" (S5:E30). Then he was Scotty the rest of the time.

Since Mary introduced Scotty to Trisha as Mr. Scott, maybe his name was Jerry Scott.

It's weird though, because in "Boys & Girls" Mary mentioned that she just discovered Jerry-after she had been dating Scotty since high school!

None of it really makes sense.

I wonder if Shelly ever said anything to the writers. Of course in those days young actors probably didn't have much say.

I've wondered if actors ever said anything about inconsistencies (in this and other shows). I'd bet they just spieled their lines and minded their own business.
