I appeared on "Good Times" twice, but my best memory from that show wasn't when I was on as an actress. My mother appeared as the iconic 'Mrs. Gordon' which introduced the role of 'Penny', Janet Jackson's birth mother, in the very serious subject of child abuse.

My memory was from how hard Janet and mom worked together at our apartment on getting it so right. You can see how hard they worked, I mean those scenes are really something else.

So they rehearsed at Chip's apartment? Wow! They really pulled if off!

I remember it being mentioned that that apartment looked very pretty for the projects compared to how rundown the Evans apartment looked :)

Chip Fields was so good in her role as Penny's Mom that you really hated her character.

And yet, I saw her in several roles in other shows where she played nice people and she was equally convincing in those. A fine actress.

A compelling story, made better by some very engaging actors.
