"Legends of Tomorrow" is rewinding the clock to the very early Obama years.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the time-tripping CW drama is revolving an upcoming Season 3 episode around a teenage version of President Barack Obama. Set in the late ’70s when the future No. 44 was a student at Occidental College, the hour is being penned by Keto Shimizu and James Eagan.

Casting is currently underway for an actor to play Young Obama. The episode starts shooting in early February and is slated to air in April.

Superheroes Fawn Over Young 'Barry' Obama in 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' (https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/culture/lindsay-kornick/2018/04/02/heroes-fawn-over-young-obama-dcs-legends-tomorrow)

DC's Legends of Tomorrow features heroes that can fly, control the forces of nature, and do all kinds of fantastical things. The latest episode, however, took some time to highlight a different kind of hero. Namely, President Barack Obama. And here I thought the story couldn’t get any more ridiculous.

In the April 2 episode “Guest Starring John Noble,” (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/68185-s03e17-guest-starring-john-noble/?do=getLastComment) the time-traveling superheroes set out to protect the first black president during his college years when he’s targeted by a telepathic gorilla known as Grodd who actually utters the phrase “time to make America Grodd again.”

Yes, everything in the show, including a young Barack Obama, is just as on the nose as that.

Legends of Tomorrow boss on Young Obama storyline: "This is totallygratuitous, us sending a little ‘love letter’ to the ex-president" (http://tvline.com/2018/04/04/legends-of-tomorrow-young-obama-trump/)
Showrunner Phil Klemmer says of Tuesday's episode, in which a giant evil gorilla tried to kill a young Barack Obama (https://io9.gizmodo.com/a-giant-evil-gorilla-tried-to-kill-obama-on-legends-of-1824280076): “There’s a certain point where you realize, ‘This scene doesn’t need to be in the show. This is totally gratuitous, us sending a little ‘love letter’ to the ex-president.' But when I rewatched the episode (Tuesday) night, I was like, ‘Thank God we did keep in that totally superfluous love letter to the ex-president. And thank God we found a performer in Vancouver (Lovell Adams-Gray) who played such a convincing Young Barack Obama!”
