Another song I got on my MP3 player is the Dire Straits song Money For Nothing and when I listened to it Mom told me that there was another version of Money For Nothing that features lyrics not in the radio version of the song. I do know that Dire Straits 1982 album Brothers In Arms was one of the top Dire Straits albums of the 80's and that there is a longer version of Money For Nothing from Brothers In Arms. Was the Dire Straits song Money For Nothing released in a clean version when it was released to radio stations because of explicit lyrics in the album version?

There was a radio edit of "Money For Nothing" that dropped the word "f:censored:t" (a homosexual slur) from the lyrics. The song was not a diatribe against gays, it was simply a set of lyrics based on a group of shoppers at a department store watching a bank of television monitors broadcasting MTV. They offered a running commentary about effeminate-looking rock stars with jewelry and long hair and perks of stardom just by appearing on MTV.
