I haven't seen the reunion movies but read that Betty was widowed. Who had she married on the show? Character name? And how did she become a widow? Thanks!

I think she was married to the pilot she was taken with in the third season of the original show. In the Christmas movie he was flying to get to Springfield, in a storm. She was worried he wouldn't make it, but of course he did. I think his name is Frank, but I'd have to recheck it in the movie.

Thanks! So she didn't marry Ralph? Think that was his name? The one that had proposed to Betty in one of the TV episodes but then they decided to not be engaged.

Ralph is correct, and no, she didn't marry him as far as we know. I think the proposal episode was the first episode of season 5.

IIRC in that same movie, we learn that Bud is now racing motorcycles -- I can't remember for certain.

I love the “Father Knows Best” Christmas reunion made for TV special. Have been watching it as part of Christmas tradition since 1977.
