"Veep's" Final Season Postponed as Julia Louis-Dreyfus Undergoes Breast Cancer Treatment

Another HBO hit unlikely to return this year, along with "Game of Thrones" and "True Detective", is "Veep".

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has recently undergone treatment for breast cancer and the show postponed the start of production on its seventh and final season.



“They’ve got a big year planned,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys told us as part of a wide-ranging Q&A at TCA today.

“They pitched it out to us, it’s really funny. When Julia is ready to get back, we’ll be shooting — I’m not sure what date we settled on — but we’re waiting for her to feel well enough to get back to it.”

Selina Meyer’s reelection campaign won’t get underway until next year.

According to "Veep‘s" Matt Walsh, the Emmy-winning comedy’s seventh and final season is expected to begin production in August, once star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has had enough time to recuperate after undergoing chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

"We’ll start filming in August and it will air in 2019," Walsh told EW.com. "We’ve seen Julia, she’s done some table reads and she’s doing well."
