View Full Version : Have you ever had an Unsolved Mystery?
SoFl123 05-18-2002, 06:38 PM I had 2 unexplainable things happen around me in my life before. nothing bit just minor.
I was alone in my home and the calender started shaking forcefully really fast, no winds or anything to do it. it was kind of freaky. and the other is all the lights turned on in my house at the same time with no sound of it turning on they just turned on.
Has anyone else had an unsolved mystery?
TheWho 05-23-2002, 04:59 PM I've had one,my step-grandma has antiques you will see in one of the posts.
Evelyn Mele 06-05-2002, 02:11 PM I'm presently 44 yrs. of age so speaking of what I'm about to tell you will seem rather odd to most viewers of this post. When I was a young girl in the early sixties I recall having what appeared to be a dream as I lay on an antique loveseat just below my grandmothers picture window in her living room
on the farm located in Isabella County, Mi. I remember vividly of 4 to 5 beings standing there in the window peering in at me. The faces i remember quite well as they were a bit distorted they were also bald with round eyes a feature that was very prominent in their appearance what was so unusual, was they were discussing something,in which, I thought they were referring to me as they gazed down upon me. the most bizaree image I'll never forget they hadn't any mouths no lips no mouths whatsoever! But they were communicating and I could hear them and they could hear each other.. Now let me add to the record this may very well have been a dream but for weeks following I was haunted by nightmares of these faces and they kept stretching out of proportion long and then fat and small. Believe me you I was much to young to know these hallucinations and blurry abstract images in my dreams were taunting me endlessly for weeks. I never spoke of this to anyone they would consider me absolutely silly. The years following I began being somewhat psychic in my dreams so eventually I just decided I didn't wan to dream at all, especially after my sisters accident I was warned about ahead of time. Anyway getting back to the subject at hand, I thought for a minute one night(late90's to 2000) I could see something in the sky rather to far off to tell whether or not it was any thing spectaacular or some phenomenon but it was very bright and I just had a funny feeling and then I found myself saying aloud go away and leave me alone, I feel really silly and in no way am I delusional I just am perplexed on this whole thing..the low hanging star(sorta oblong) vanished..I'm too skeptical and open to different opinions and theories yet until I'm absolutely sure this wasn't a dream I'm probably going to shrug it off like the rest of the world full of some people who'd rather close their eyes and conform to this new society..God bless and keep you however you concieve you're God. PracTz 07-14-2002, 05:02 PM When I was six, I was playing around and accidently got hung up by my neck in a swingset in my backyard and my mother was unable to unhook it! A stranger heard our frantic panicked carrying on and he came around to the back yard and unhooked my neck from the swingset before I. He left before we even had the chance to thank him or learn his name. We never saw him before or since nor could imagine what he was doing in our neighborhood around 6PM on a weekday.

That sounds like you came into contact with aliens. Especially since you said they had no mouths or lips, but seemed to be communicating with one another. I've read that UFO sightings dramatically increased during World War II. Since you have not mentioned any cuts or anything my guess is that whatever they are, they are not hostile. If in the alternative, they were not aliens, then there's the possibility of something else. I've read in accounts that most alien beings have american accents which questions whether they are actually U.S. Government Officials. Although, if the beings were speaking to each other in a unknown language or communication they might have very well have been greys or some species of alien being. I've been studying UFOs and aliens since I was 10 years old. Whatever the case I don't think you have any reason to be afraid of whatever you saw, whether it be aliens, ghosts or whatnot. Try something I read in a book this week. Wave at it and see if it waves back. I've read that this is percieved as a friendly gesture.
I lost my sanity a few years ago. I keep looking for it, but I don't think it's coming back...
;)
Plata 09-21-2002, 11:39 PM I keep looking for the ultimate answer of truth about life. I haven't found it yet, but I'll let you know when I do.
baloony 10-24-2022, 12:45 PM One night back in the early 1990's, still a bit before caller ID (or before my parents had it, anyway) the phone rang. I answered it and there was quite a bit of static on the line. A lady says "Davey?" and I said "looks like you have the wrong num.." and she cut me off and said "hi Davey...listen...is now a good time...I really need to talk to you". Again I started to tell her that she had the wrong number. But she just kept on talking. She said "through all of this, I believe it's become quite clear what I need to do...see...you probably didn't even know that I have been in Toronto for weeks now". This was really freaking me out at this point. I said "listen....may I ask you something?" and she said very nervously "yeah yeah". And I said "do you know anyone in Alabama?" and she said "where?" and I said "Alabama. As in the state of Alabama. Located in the United States. The southeastern United States, to be specific". And she said "no..no...I've only ever been to the USA once...maybe twice...and that was just across the border in Michigan". So I proceed to explain that she has called someone in the state of Alabama. She gasps and says "look, Davey, if it isn't a good time, then just tell me baby. I can always call back another time." Again I tried telling her that she had the wrong number. And again, that didn't seem to register with her. She just said "alone is not synonymous with loneliness my dear Davey. I'l try again tomorrow night. Perhaps you need some time to process this. Goodbye for now. Sweet dreams".
The whole thing was just...eerie. It's odd that someone could place a phone call to another country and not realize it.
Killarney Rose 10-24-2022, 09:14 PM My birth mothers life was a mystery. My siblings and I were farmed out to various relatives and raised apart. We didn’t find out until after she died the extent to which her family went to separate her and us, and there was no reason why. She died a broken woman. When us siblings got together for the first time (after she died) we put together a very odd story with no good reason why they should keep us all apart. Anyone that knows the truth has gone on. We will never know. It’s a much longer story than I’ve listed here. People that hear it, their first comment is,” you should write a book about this.” I invested so much emotional energy into this when it happened, I don’t think I have it in me to write a book.
sharonite 10-24-2022, 11:33 PM I’ve posted this before, but my paternal grandfather was a non-family adoptee. I know little about his origins other than the city in which he was born and his original last name (which is an extremely common name).
infinityluxe 10-25-2022, 02:05 AM I have dealt with sleep paralysis since I was a child. It happens often and no longer scares the shxt out of me. I am used to waking up unable to move fully aware of everything around me. Sometimes I wake up and feel as if someone is in the room or I am about to stop breathing and my mind is racing but I am completely conscious and there is a will in me that will not let up until I wake and I am free again.
Well I discovered while working in a juvenile home when I was in my 20s that sleeping upright in a chair would cause me to have outer body experiences. I worked third shift and most nights I would come in and have some small talk with the boys in my cabin before they drift off to sleep. I would be on my phone watching movies with my bluetooth in and some nights I would inevitably drift off to sleep doing so.
One night it was storming something awful outside. I was asleep upright in the chair and I woke up unable to move. I was fighting to wake myself up per usual but then I felt myself leave my body and float into the atmosphere. I began to move at such a high rate of speed and it was fun. It was thundering and lightning but I was not getting wet and the weather didn't scare me. It was actually fun and I remember thinking I'm going to go faster. Well as soon as I was about to propel myself further into the atmoshphere a voice spoke to me: You're going to far. Come back. It was not very loud or urgent just matter of fact. So I listened. I began descending at a high rate of speed and "popped" back into my body as I woke up.
It was one of the most surreal experiences I ever had. It happened to me once more about 5 years later. I was now working grave yard shift at a psych hospital and on my hour breaks I would often go to my car and listen to some music and mess around on my phone. This night it was raining a bit and kind of cold, but I still decided to go out. I was in my car listening to music and I turned the heat up because I got cold. Well here I was again sitting up right in a chair drifting asleep. It began to storm something serious while I was out there but the heat had me in a deep sleep. I remember having the same experience leaving my body and ascending at a high rate of speed. I was enjoying myself and bouncing all around. It was like being a kid on a swing or something. Very satisfying. I was about to propel myself higher and I remembered the voice. I didn't hear it this time but I decided to descend back down. I was going at a very high rate of speed but I was no afraid and it was fun but not as fun as ascending higher. I popped back into my body and was instantly awake. I looked at my phone and I had been asleep for 1 hour and 40 minutes. I had like 5 missed called from my unit supervisor trying to figure out where I was at.
Those experiences have stayed with me for years now and I make it a point to never fall asleep sitting upright in a chair. You can say I am batshxt crazy but I know I was fully conscious of everything that took place and I was not dreaming. The power of the mind is amazing and there is so much power we have that we are unable to tap into on this side of our existence. I'm no longer afraid of death and I know there is so much more we are capable of than this experience we call life.

I don't think you're crazy at all IL. I myself have suffered from occasional bouts of sleep paralysis for the past 20 years or so, and IMO it's one of the most frustrating, inexplicable, scary, and just plain impossible to explain sleep disorders known to man. I only wish I had a dime for every time someone told me, "oh you were just dreaming", or "don't sweat it...it was just your imagination", because I'd be a wealthy woman today, LOL! I personally believe my sleep paralysis may be medication related and have noticed that it seems to act up particularly bad during periods of high stress. I'm really glad that you've been able to cope so well and view your experiences with such a positive perspective!
BlueGalexy 10-25-2022, 11:36 PM To answer the OP's question, yes I have had my own personal unsolved mystery and it happened just recently as a matter of fact. Hopefully my fellow posters can give me their respective opinions on this one, so here goes...
A few weeks back my dad brought home some particularly beautiful bone-in pork chops from the grocery store and asked if we could have them for dinner that night. He asked me if I'd pretty please pan fry them in beer and butter which was a recipe my late mama shared with us a thousand years ago, and was always one of her personal favorites. He used what I call his "boo boo face" on me and like the total sucker I am, I folded like a cheap suit, lol. So we sit down to a lovely dinner and flick on a rerun of Law & Order when about half way through I start to hear what sounds like faint whimpers and scratching coming from our garage door. Worried that Harley, our little Italian Greyhound, has gotten trapped in the garage, I immediately get up to investigate. After a few minutes, I realize Harley isn't in the garage and decide to finish my dinner. Except, lo and behold, my plate looks undisturbed but for one small thing... The remaining half of my beautiful, oh so tasty pork chop is *gasp* GONE!! The following is a very rough transcript of my investigation into the incident now known in my household as "Pork Chop-gate":
ME: HAAAAARLEY! Front and center young man!!!
HARLEY (who skids to a stop in front of me, possibly chewing): What pork chop?
ME (pointing angrily at my dinner plate): Do you know anything about this??
HARLEY: Well...it looks like Daddy might have stolen your pork chop.
**Now at this point, my focus shifts to Dad who also appears to be suspiciously chewing something.**
ME (trying to hold onto my temper): Dad, did you happen to see where my pork chop went?
DAD: Uhhhhh...no? Did something happen to your pork chop?
At this point I realize that it's unlikely the guilty party will ever be found and that what remains of my dinner is getting cold. So with a heavy heart and suspicious mind, I put an end to my investigation. Though Pork Chop-gate has been officially designated as a cold case, unanswered questions haunt me. For example, which hungry boy was the guilty party? Did Harley steal my pork chop and try to blame Dad? Did Dad steal my pork chop and hope that his "play dumb" routine would fly? Were they in on it together? And if it WAS Harley, was the garage door thing a prearranged set up designed to lure me away from my dinner plate, or simply a fortuitous circumstance that he used to his advantage? Perhaps YOU can help solve a mystery...

Just sounds like a prank call to be honest. Maybe even one where a person was drunk. I don't think it is more than that by the sounds of it. But awfully creepy I am sure.
Clockwork 12-30-2022, 08:09 PM I have no idea how one I am about to mention was NOT on Unsolved Mysteries. An elderly woman in her 70s was murdered in the middle of the night back in 1970. The accused was an 18 year old man who was said to have raped her as well. This is small town Canada. I was not born yet, but several of my family members knew this woman very well, as she was their neighbour.
The 18 year old had a trial but they found him not guilty. Even the judge said he was a very fortunate man. The elderly woman did not have any children or a husband and my guess is that as time went on she didn't really have any family to put pressure on the authorities to solve it. So it became a forgotten cold case.
Anyway, the excuse the guy gave was that he was drunk that night, but still denies doing it. Just sounds like either some corruption helped him get off or incompetence, and it is probably the 2nd one.

She sounded like she was out of it. She did kind of have that "Judy Hyams is alive and she lives in Omaha" vibe to her. Might have been a UM fan pulling a prank
Labonte18 02-13-2025, 03:47 PM I think anyone who is involved in Genealogy at all winds up with Unsolved Mysteries all the time.
I can't track down my great-grandfather on my mothers' side. She was adopted and he apparently went out for a pack of smokes back in the day and still hasn't made it back.
I managed to track down her parents, which was the much harder part as she was adopted.
Killarney Rose 02-14-2025, 10:13 AM I agree with what you said about genealogy. I had my DNA run thru ancestry a year after I posted in this thread. It answered a few questions but raised a lot more than it answered.
bigted12 06-01-2025, 07:11 PM It didn't happen to me, but it happened to someone in my town....
There was a guy in his late 30s, the kind of person you know, but you don't know, kinda like a friend of a friend, he lived a few streets away from me. Well in 2018 he started to get letters from a bank asking him to get in contact with them in order to "discuss his account"
The thing is he didn't have an account with this bank so naturally he thought it was a scam, the kind of thing where you call them, give them some details and they steal your money, your identity or both, so he ignored it.
But the letters kept on coming, month after month after month... all looking really official. he then believed that maybe he had opened an account when was he younger, maybe for the first job he had, but still couldn't work out why they'd send him letters 20 years later and he was convinced he'd didn't open an account there anyway.
So he decided to call them and they asked him if he could go into nearest bank which was only 15 minutes away on foot on the main street in our town, so the next day after lunch he puts his coat on and went down there. the thing is, he never came back.
For some reason even though his wife has hounded the local newspaper and national newspapers, it's been ignored, LE don't even take her seriously. they even asked her "to consider the fact he could have ran away with another woman"
he left the house that day with nothing, no cell phone, no wallet, just his keys...
his credit cards haven't been touched.. and the letters that arrived monthly from the bank all of a sudden stopped.

That is frightening to be honest. I mean, he goes to his local bank, what could possibly happen there? If anything you figure he would be told that no he doesn't have an account. How can he end up missing like that? What happened? Yeah that is a true unsolved mystery. Do you happen to know the name of the man? Because I am guessing he is on the Doe network and I would love to read up on that case. It has me intrigued.

It's funny i got this notification because i was talking about this at christmas with someone who knew him, but theres still no update, nothing....
I'll try and give you some more details. I think the letters began in 2017, towards the end, he recieved letters from Chase bank which had his name on, obviously his address and looking really official with even an account number, they asked him to get in touch regarding his account.
For about 2 years or more (i'm not 100% sure) he ignored them, his wife joked "maybe theres a million bucks in there!" but naturally he thought it was a scam, like i said, a way of getting information at random so they can rob you. he ignored it..
It went on and on...until finally he called them, BUT he made a point of calling CHASE not from the number on the letters, but the number from google...(this number was on the phones out going call list so we know thats who he called)
They told him to go into his local Chase whenever he could, so the next day he went down there only taking his keys with him, this was around 2pm...but then he never comes back.
His wife notices his cell phone and wallet still on the table, the car in the driveway (she had come back from picking the kids up from school) thinks it's strange but waits a few hours, when he doesn't come back she calls his friends and parents, brother...nothing, they hadn't seen him since the day before... she starts panicking...
She gets in the car and goes looking around town, nothing. about 10pm she goes and reports it to the police, says it's strange...the cops at first seem really interested, i mean it's a small town...but then suddenly a few days later blow her off.
The next day she goes into the bank and asks them, they give her some bizarre mixture of "he wasn't here and even if he was we couldn't tell you.."
she calls the number which was still stored on the outgoing calls list (again chase) who tell her that they've never had any interaction with him...
Days pass, weeks... she goes to the local newspaper and even nationals looking for help and even though they listen to her, never publish a story, nothing...she goes to see the police everyday who seem not to care, one of them sits her down and says:
"maybe you should entertain the fact he ran away, who knows? another woman? vegas, atlantic city?"
So who knows, theres a feeling that he was lured there.. i mean his credit cards havent been touched, no car, no cell.. where did he go? there must be a link between this and the bank letters right?
His name is Robert Parker

So who knows, theres a feeling that he was lured there.. i mean his credit cards havent been touched, no car, no cell.. where did he go? there must be a link between this and the bank letters right?
His name is Robert Parker
That seems so odd, and creepy. Not sure how much the letter had to do with anything. Could be a fantastic coincidence considering it is a well known bank and someone wouldn't have lured him there from the bank to kill him. And I can't see how they could have without anyone else knowing. He would have left but without his wallet? That's strange too. Also bizarre that the police sort of shook it off assuming he left for another woman.
I can't find a thing on him. Not on Youtube, Google or the Doe Network. Maybe I am missing something here. Is there a link to this case?

I remembered a couple of things after posting yesterday...Even though the phone registers a call made to chase bank that lasted over 6 minutes, chase say they never got a call from him, the letters also stopped when he went missing and chase claim they never sent him any letters to begin with.
Another thing is that robert had just changed cell phone, his wife later found the old cell which had been switched off for about a month, when she switched it on it was full of missed calls and voicemails but just silence...
I'm convinced that his disappearance has something to do with the letters, because why would they just happen to stop? when his wife went down to the bank the day after, they acted all wierd, she asked the first person who told her "he's not been here" then when they got the manager "customer privacy means even if he was here, we can't tell you" she also asked them if theres any CCTV and although it was less than 24 hours later, they gave her some bizarre story about changing the tapes...
I don' think it's strange he left without his wallet or cell.. the thing is where his (and mine) house is, if you cut through where the high school football field is, you can be on main street within minutes, i've put my sneakers on and ran down there when i've needed something maybe a sandwich or whatever and just grabbed some money and not bothered taking anything else..
And that's the thing! theres nothing on him, anytime his wife and family try and get someone interested in the case they brush it off. I mean i didn't really know him, he was the kind of person that i knew his face, i knew of him so i can't really say "he wouldn't have done this, he would have done that..." but the idea he went out with no wallet, no cell, no car, nothing.. but he's ran away to vegas with another woman is insane!
Theres something going on, something with the police. his wife about a year after he disappeared was at the store, she was loading her car up with the groceries when she saw the wife of one of the cops she had spoken to, she was walking towards her with a look on her face "like she wanted to tell me something but changed her mind at the last minute"
Someone knows something.

That is awfully bizarre. If it had to do with the bank, then we are talking about a major bank orchestrating a killing of a man for some reason, and the police covering up for them again for some reason. If all of this stuff is true that you are posting and it went down the way it did, then a lot of people are involved in this. To vanish in broad daylight is just unnerving. There is always the possibility that they used the bank as a means to get him out of the house. And that it was a great impersonation of the bank (eg. the letters, the call, etc.) But yeah, it doesn't pass the smell or eye test here.
