View Full Version : Can't access the board by PC, only with phone Zoneboy 12-28-2017, 09:10 PM Anyone else having issues? I've tried 3 browsers for several days and no dice. robyrob 12-28-2017, 10:23 PM is this the only site you are having problems with? when accessing it by phone, are you using your home wifi? do a virus and malware scan and then flush your DNS https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html Zoneboy 12-28-2017, 10:26 PM Only one that I'm aware of, I'll try the dns flush. icecream 12-28-2017, 11:29 PM I can use this site by PC fine. Zoneboy 12-29-2017, 03:48 PM I've done everything I can think of, still get the server IP address could not be found message. opus 12-29-2017, 04:33 PM I've been having problems with this site (and only this site) using the Safari browser on the iPhone and iPad, constantly getting a "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found " notice. But on the PC, everything's been smooth. Axl Rose 12-30-2017, 06:35 PM Yeah this has been happening to me. Sometimes it goes through (like now) and other times it gives me "server not found" Using Firefox but i also tried Chrome aswell. Can bring up the site on my phone just fine. Dude111 12-30-2017, 11:57 PM Sometimes I get that response on various sites and thankfully if I click REFRESH (or press F5 or return) it goes thru.......... Huskerz85 01-03-2018, 04:07 PM I was having issues too. Using Firefox, I got a msg about a possible 'insecure connection' or something of that sort. On a whim, I put "https://" in front of the full web address, hit enter and voila - was able to log in Zoneboy 01-03-2018, 04:49 PM I unplugged my router and rebooted the computer and so far I've had no more problems. robyrob 01-03-2018, 07:49 PM when something like that happens it is usually a DNS issue (Domain Name System) - which means that when your browser requests a site like www.sitcomsonline.com, it gets converted into an IP address like 199.193.245.60, and to save time it will cache (temporarily save) those IP addresses, and if it changes then you will not get the site you asked for. those cached IP addresses can be on your PC, in your router, in your ISP's routers or elsewhere in the internet infrastructure - the flush DNS will clear it on your PC, you can't do much if the issue lies elsewhere (although rebooting your router could help if it caches addresses). you can find out if you are having a problem reaching certain sites by pinging the addresses or running a tracert on the address, which will actually show all the steps, and where the problem is (try running a tracert to google's address 8.8.4.4) Dude111 01-05-2018, 01:33 PM I unplugged my router and rebooted the computer and so far I've had no more problems.Good buddy im glad :) tenter 01-20-2018, 04:31 PM My laptop and my phone when using wifi, I can't access sitcomsonline at all, it instead gives another redirect site I can't explain. I can only access here on my cell phone ! :( Sorry.... I don't know how I can help, maybe it's temporary. Mine is working fine. TJ 01-24-2018, 11:07 PM What happened on Saturday was the nameservers domain expired. I never knew the host had even registered it 7 years ago. They updated the nameservers as soon as I contacted them, and they saw what was causing the issue. It should have started working for most people within 4-6 hours. It can take 24-72 hours for it to propagate and ISPs to update. Some Wifi hosts are still having problems accessing the site it seems. It's up to the individual ISPs to update to the latest DNS. tlc38tlc38 01-26-2018, 06:09 PM I've been having trouble getting on with my phone. So if I'm absent for a period of time it's because I can't access the site. tlc38tlc38 01-26-2018, 06:36 PM I'm still having trouble on my phone. It keeps going in and out. Axl Rose 01-27-2018, 09:13 AM Im still having problems aswell. Its worse than before. I cant access the site with my phone or computer. A proxy is the only way to get on. TMC 01-27-2018, 08:36 PM I can access the site at my local library or elsewhere but I can't access it at my home! drew790 01-31-2018, 11:05 AM Ah so it's not just me. Yeah, it's still in and out for me but more out. It seems the only way I can get it the last 2 days is to use my work's VPN. Axl Rose 01-31-2018, 07:28 PM Any updates? Still inaccessible without a proxy. TMC 02-02-2018, 12:32 AM Any updates? Still inaccessible without a proxy. I am able to get on now!! I'm so HAPPY!!:) Hope it stays working and hoping it starts working for everyone!!:) Happy days are here again The skies above are clear again So let's sing a song of cheer again Happy days are here again http://www.lovethispic.com/uploaded_images/299962-Happy-Friday-May-You-Day-Be-Filled-With-Sunshine-And-Flowers.jpg TJ 02-02-2018, 01:06 PM I did a trouble ticket with our host again last night. They told me the domain is resolving globally. If you still can't access the site or it's only temporarily working, then it's an issue with your browser, computer or ISP. You can check whether a site is down for everyone or just you at: http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/sitcomsonline.com.html That site lists several suggestions you can try: If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions: Browser Related Problems Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.) Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser : Fix DNS Problems A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP. Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system : If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services. Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS. (http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/how-to/setup-opendns-or-google-dns.html) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you still can't access the site after flushing the DNS cache (as robyrob had earlier suggested in the thread - http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=5325187&postcount=11), here are my suggestions: 1) Clear all of your temporary internet files, cookies and other related files in your browser. Try another browser. 2) Add sitcomsonline.com to your trusted site lists or any type of whitelists. 3) Unplug your modem and/or router for a minute or two. Reset any options and reboot. 4) Contact your ISP and tell them you are having problems accessing the site. I'm sorry if the site was down for an extended period of time. It was frustrating to read the comments and e-mails from people who were having problems accessing it. I had no idea that our host had registered the nameservers under a different domain 7 years ago. That domain had expired at the end of December (and there was a grace period into January). The host fixed the nameservers once they figured out what was causing the site loading issues. They said most people in the USA should have been able to access the site within 4-6 hours. In some cases, it can take ISPs 24-72 hours to update the DNS cache. KRW 02-02-2018, 03:14 PM Just to help confirm that it worked I'm posting in here. I was one of the many having issues getting on. I'm able to access everything perfectly again. I tested it by going to various threads where it would usually quit working on me. I've been cruising the board for a hour now problem free. I don't have a smart phone, and hopefully never will. MrCleveland 02-02-2018, 08:48 PM I had this problem for two weeks... I'm glad this site is up again! Dude111 02-06-2018, 04:33 PM I wonder why exactly this was happening?? Thankfully I have always been able to get here....... Hmmmmmmm very strange! |
