English actress Olivia Cooke, who turns 24 today, began acting in her late teens. She made her screen debut in 2012 in a pair of BBC miniseries. Her roles in horror films like Ouija and The Lighthouse Golem might lead people to label her a scream queen, but she has also appeared in indie dramas like Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Katie Says Goodbye, and this year she was one of the leads in the well-received Thoroughbreds. She has some big projects coming up—she will star as Becky Sharp on an ITV/Amazon miniseries adaptation of Vanity Fair, and has a prominent role in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, which comes out in March. Her first big role, however, was starring on A&E’s Bates Motel as Emma Decody.
