To go to all the expense to colorize the show, wouldn't you think they'd televise the episodes uncut? This is a prime time special after all. In October Eve we lose the bit when Rob bumps into a man trying to sketch the painting at the gallery, and also a few lines of his dialogue are cut at the end of him comforting Laura in the kitchen..('Aww, that's what we're here for..." he says before she leaves and he reacts when he's alone) I think in "Blonde" Rob tells Laura he wants to sleep 2 hours..that's why she set the clock ahead..and I'm sure there are more cut moments. With technology nowadays they can make cuts of even a line of dialogue so seamlessly the audience would never catch it, unless those who remember the original or have seen various versions in syndication can identify what is going on. CBS ought to know about this disservice to the actors and the show. I don't have the 5 dvd sets, so are those episodes complete and uncut? If so, it really is a shame that complete colorized versions were not aired. rcbrad 12-24-2017, 02:24 PM It does not surprise me at all. I think they even chopped off the opening credits of the second episode. It could be that the full episodes were colorized, but they were trimmed to sell more ad time. It did seem like there was a whole bunch of commercials. Of course more commercials = more $$$$. treky 12-25-2017, 01:31 AM they cut off the tag scene and the closing credits from "MY BLONDE-HAIRED BRUNETTE". stevea 12-25-2017, 09:39 PM I hope they release them uncut on DVD, like they did last year. I watched them on demand, where the screen wasn't cropped. I imagine it was, live on CBS. Somehow the colorizing seemed better this year, than on last year's episodes. Maybe it's just that I'm getting more used to it. Hazel Anyday 12-25-2017, 11:06 PM Yes, Stevea, I agree, I think the color on this year's DVD shows was a big improvement over last year's pale pastel look. This year's show seemed to be in real color not faded pastels, haven't seen both shows yet, but tuned in to see if the color looked better than last year. Very happy with what I saw this year. I recorded them so I'll be watching them in the near future. |
