The ABC drama has wasted so much potential, says Jennifer Still. “Now, having just finished its sixth season, the series bears no resemblance to the vibrant, inspiring, fun show it once was,” she says. “What has emerged in its place is a nonsensical spattering of random storylines which make little sense and have so few stakes that they’re nearly impossible to become invested in or care about at all.”

I quit watching after the Peter Pan story. Once they started on Frozen, I stopped.

I finally finished this show. One thing this show kept doing wrong was repeating the memory loss storyline every other year. Season 3B should have been the last time that story was reused because it made sense. Zelena was angry and jealous. Her character going through the extreme lengths was interesting to watch and learn more about Cora. Season 5A and all of season 7 was just ridiculous to keep doing the same story over and over.

Season 4B is when this show went downhill for me. I quit watching back then. They had so much potential with the Queens of Darkness story but then trashed it to go for the author storyline. They also went a soap opera route of having Zelena be pregnant with her sister's boyfriend's baby. I understand they wanted to redeem Zelena by making her soft after being a mother, but did it have to be Robin? Regina forgiving her a year later was dumb. I like Zelena, but that really ruined her character for me. I hate that Cruella was so underused because she was the most evilest villain the show had. She would have killed anyone who got in her way if the author hadn't stopped her years prior.

Season 5B was pretty good. I like Hades and the return of Cruella. It was great to see a villain again that is unredeemable. Season 6 had promise with Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde until they rewrote Hyde as the victim and Jekyll the villain. I didn't care for how they wanted to rush the Evil Queen story so they could get to Gideon trying to kill Emma. I think the Black Fairy should have been either a whole season or a full half season. Having her as the main villain the last few episodes was very rushed.

Season 7 was really good given it was a repeat of season 1. I don't care for the whole wish realm but the serial killer story was fun to watch. I knew who the serial killer was once Gretel said Hansel was going under a different name pretending to be someone in their world. I like that they were able to bring almost everyone back for that final episode. This show made it clear in the final few minutes the point of Once Upon A Time was about redeeming The Evil Queen and making her a good person in the fairytale world. I like how this show ended. Regina is the best character from the show.
