View Full Version : Should Boomerang and Cartoon Network show some of the classic cartoons again?
Hawkee 12-17-2017, 07:40 AM I have often wondered if someday Boomerang and Cartoon Network will return to it's roots of rerunning the classic cartoons once again. Because although cartoons like Teen Titans Go and Ben 10 are nice to see. It sure would be cool to see classic cartoons again

Jjsime31 12-17-2017, 09:59 AM I wish they would or start a new classic cartoon channel. It’s a shame that we don’t have a channel for just classic cartoons of the 50’s 60’s and 70’s.
jimpickens 12-17-2017, 04:36 PM They need to go back to their roots.
stevea 12-17-2017, 06:51 PM Let's face it--CN is a mess, and Comcast doesn't even carry Boomerang. We need a channel which will carry all the old Hanna-Barbera stuff (Yogi, Jetsons, Top Cat, even Quick Draw, etc.), the old Warner Bros. cartoons (including Speedy Gonzalez and all the other ones CN avoided for years), and whatever other old stuff is out there.
Dude111 12-17-2017, 09:19 PM The original LOONEY TUNES!!!
PhoenixAcres 12-17-2017, 09:31 PM I voted Loony Toons but I would have gone with "all of the above".

The sad thing is Boomerang started out that way when Cartoon Network began bringing in newer stuff. But now it's deteriorated to the point where both are showing predominantly modern shows and only a handful of classics.
Maybe if an over the air classic cartoon channel was created (like MeTV but for cartoons) they would be more respectful to old shows.
tlc38tlc38 12-17-2017, 10:21 PM I'd like to see The Smurfs come back to Boomerang.
robyrob 12-18-2017, 08:42 AM all of them, and then bunch more oldies instead of the crap they have now
AMackII 12-18-2017, 01:20 PM Looney Tunes. it will be better if i voted all of the above(older cartoons)

I would too...
Corporation seemed to have ruined TV! But once a station has gone corporate, it's too late...
Videoranger007 12-20-2017, 12:50 AM Cartoon Network will most likely never air classic cartoons again and Boomerang its very doubtful as well unless they create a “nick rewind” sort of block. Lets face it, this will never happen unless a new channel is created specifically for the broadcast of vintage toons.

That would be great...but I wish there's a Cartoon Cartoons Network with all its CN Classic shows and Boomerang is the shows that are acquired by Time-Warner from 1929-1999!
Tubehead 12-27-2017, 02:17 AM i always dreamed like nickelodeon or cartoon network would create an classic 24 hour cartoon network channel!!

Hi, Bestie! I wonder what people think a "classic" cartoon is. To me, old Tom and Jerry are classic. To others, Ren and Stimpy are classic. What is "classic" to you, Bestie? maybe you can put up another poll?

rusty spike 12-29-2017, 04:42 AM Boomerang now offers a streaming subscription. It's the only way to see older cartoons that Boomerang has booted from their line-up.
mikey0581 12-30-2017, 02:18 AM im actually watching old classic looney toons on boomerang now. i miss when antenna tv used to air totally tooled i think it was called i wish they would bring back that talk about old cartoons. i picked either jensons smurfs or flintstones to come back to boomerang
mikey0581 12-30-2017, 02:20 AM i also miss the classic halloween toons they had i think it was looney toons with the skeletons i vagely remember. That and when disney used to show mickey mouse show or donald duck show and even mouseciser, talk about getting kids to exercise that was an awesome show.
jajsage 01-09-2018, 09:38 PM Yes. I wish that Boomerang would go back to their original programming. Especially when they were commercial free. I was trading with some in Brazil. Their Boomerang aired many cartoons, as far as I know, were never aired on the U.S. Boomerang. Shows such as Jeannie, Batman and Robin (1960's Filmation) and The Adventures of Superman (1960's Filmation), The New Adventures of Batman (1970's Filmation with Batmite, now on DVD). The Superman and Batman episodes were aired in their entirety with original opening and closing. Here they were chopped and some new credits were added.
Race's Girl 05-14-2018, 11:03 AM Looney Toons along with Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs and Boomeraction

A "classic" doesnt necessarily mean age when it comes down to cartoons or even film or TV. Id consider anything that is highly memorable and beloved to be a classic.
