I was watching Cheers on DVD and I saw the episode Coach Returns To Action and I saw a new character named Nina and I would like to know if she was a recurring character during several Cheers episodes throughout the show's run?. From what I learned about Nina she moved into Coach's apartment building and Coach helped Nina settle into her new apartment and Nina became friends with Coach. Did Nina appear in other episodes of Cheers as the girlfriend of Coach as well?

No, she only appeared in that episode.

I guess they initially wanted to show Coach's homelife but then decided to keep him strictly at the bar (with the exception of one ep in which his nebbishy daughter appeared with a creep fiance).

While I liked the character Woody a great deal and thought he was a good fit into the gang after Coach's death, I always thought it was a mistake that they never had another older, regular there as a counterbalance to all these young and early middle-aged folks. It would have been good to have had someone more experienced if not wiser like Coach to bounce off of (and even someone past playing the dating or boozing games who liked the ambiance of the bar).
